Getting Into My Summer Mode
Wednesday, April 30, 2008
It takes me by surprise when suddenly summer comes. Here we are, had a little snow the other day, and light rain today, but overall, we are getting warmer weather, I think we might even be able to manage if there was no heat in the house, not that it is warm enough, but make no mistake, in winter, if we have no heat, we die. As the oil prices rise, winter gets more expensive, but last season, our heating oil bill actually went down a little. We have insulated the top of the basement wall, and fitted a securely made outside exit door to the basement, and this fits in a frame that is made of 4 by 4, whatever that means, but it is big and strong - Hubby just told me 4 by 4 is the size in inches. So, now the challenge is to do it again this next fall, maybe fit triple glazed windows in a few rooms. Actually, we could even do with double glazed and get a few savings. But, for now, I am beginning to think more of where we will go for summer trips out, and how will I make the time to allow it!

Phone Cards Save Money Especially For Overseas Calling

Phone cards are a useful tool for saving money, and became common only a few years ago, as phone companies were regulated into allowing competition. We all know that generally, phone rates per minute have dropped over the past, say, ten years, but we have probably changed our calling habits, as well. We now accept it as necessary and normal to have a reasonably decent length conversation even when calling an overseas number. The Internet has been the driving force for this, I think. Therichcom.com have a selection of cards, actually, they list so many cards that it has become necessary to have them listed in categories so you can go the the website, and select the country you wish to call, and the terms of the card, as some have a connection fee, others not. There are some cards that allow unlimited calling, but most have a situation where you are effectively buying the time by the minute. Now, when using any phone system, you will find that they either have normal quality calling, with good voice tone etc, or there are some that do not. So, like many things in life, once you have found a good product, you might want to stick with it. Having said that, in most cases the days of poor sound quality are gone, as this occurred when calling technology (other than via a solid copper wire!) was in it's infancy. But overall, this phone card method is a great way to save money, or to stretch your phone bill budget to allow more minutes per dollar - and remember, the website is like a directory, so you have plenty of choices listed, and purchasing can be done securely right there online.

A big fire...
...it was! This happened last week at around 2:40am. I took this one using my cellphone. I was on my way to picked my bro from work. This is in the middle of one of the busiest streets downtown. The burning building was a new pizza place. It was quite a scene. Lots of people were out of their apartment to check it out.

Carefully Repairing Bad Credit

The term 'bad credit loans' appears to be what is called an oxymoron, that is, it contradicts itself within the phrase. We are probably all aware that people with bad credit tend not to be able to get loans! If you accept this, then it means that it will take you ages to actually get into the position where you can get loans again. But in reality, you do not have to accept it, because bad credit loans are a great way to actually rebuild your credit if it needs rebuilding. So, it is great to see that there is a helpful website that can lead to you getting a small loan that, provided you are careful with the repayments, will give you a great start to rebuilding your credit. Badcreditoffers.com allows you to browse through their directory of the various lenders, and make good comparisons of what is offered, whether it be credit cards, or auto loans, as buying a car (be careful and no rushing!) is a good way to rebuild slow or bad credit, again, be careful that you are able to make reliable and consistent repayments before going ahead.

One of my weakness....
is junk foods - potato chips mostly. I have read somewhere that one particular reason for this craving has something to do with how you listen to things around you. Women in noisy settings are twice as likely to binge on junk food and the effect can last for hours or even days after leaving the ear-jangling environment...so lowering the volume of your phone, computer, tv or car radio will definitely help..is this true?

Ecco Bella - Beauty products without animal testing.
Ecco Bella are interesting, as they are a beauty and health products company that has moral standards that they adhere to, and yet they prove, just by remaining in business, that it is possible and even advantageous to be socially responsible in what is done. Natural Beauty Products by Ecco Bella are well known, but I was pleasantly surprised to see that they also have room mists and fragrances.

Who got the best moves?
Sunday, April 27, 2008
Mom, sis, and myself went to Gary V's concert at the World Trade Convention Center here last weekend. It was quite an experience because it's the first ever Pinoy Artist to visit us here. I guess, nobody knows we exist here:)lol... Well, for a start, there's is not a lot of Pinoys here. It's a little bit 'too far out of civilization', as they say. Hopefully, Gary V will spread the word. I posted some photos of the concert here and one video clip here. But I wanted to post this video here too. Who do you think got the best moves? This is Gary and his second boy, Gabriel.

Online Quotes For Insurance.
Tuesday, April 22, 2008
Term Life Insurance is the lowest cost insurance on the market. You can check this out by going to wholesaleinsurance.net and using the handy quote feature to get an online quote for your insurance. Actually, they also have a good FAQ section, that allows a better understanding of how insurance types differ, and what there is available, but the best thing of all is that by visiting the site, you have the opportunity to get a term life insurance quote.

Coupon Money Saves When Online Shopping
Couponmoney.com is an online shopping directory website that has the advantage for the consumer of offering coupons for discounts at the various online stores. The stores involved are not just obscure places, they are top shopping destinations such as Staples and Ebay. The way this is achieved is by what they call Coupon Money and the way I am thinking is that if you are going to buy a product anyway, why not get the discount by using some coupon money?

Natural Ingredients Make Better Acne Medication
Acne can be embarrassing, not only for teenagers, but also for adults. Most medications work in ways that involve taking out natural oils by means of ingredients that you might not want to have touching your skin. Acnexus is one of the leading acne treatments and contains natural ingredients such as Aloe and White Willow Bark, and another 25 or so - check the full list out for yourself at the website - it is quite impressive.

Billet Vehicle Grilles for a Custom Look
There are two parts of any vehicle that can make it look better instantly, and those are the wheels of course, and the radiator grille. With the grille, for instance, if you have horizontal styling, it can make the vehicle seem wider. Billet grilles are the best you can get, as they are properly made, not just stamped out roughly or molded from plastic like the makers original. So, whether you need a Ford grille, or a Chevy grille wooddashexperts.com are worth a look at for online shopping.

For the longest time, I have never celebrated my birthday here. With no relatives but friends around, I always just keep my day to myself with hubby and my lil guy. I always made excuses not to celebrate it with a whole big production. Until my family came over last year. It started to become bigger and bigger:) well, it's a change, nothing wrong with it, I just feel bad knowing that another year has been added to me!!! waaaaa!!!!

hope my wish will come true!

Jabba Fan
Friday, April 18, 2008
We are a fan of the Jabbawockeez here and when they won the title as the America's Best Dance Crew, my son was just static. We watched every episode of it. I was at my folks place last weekend, and had a blast with my siblings there. After breakfast, while cleaning up the place, we had this spontaneous urge to make up silly videos. I really did have a blast there. Everyone was just laughing. I can't remember when I last laughed that hard that my stomach did really hurt. Anyways, here's one video we took. This one is a bit safe coz of the mask on:)

Save 80% with phone cards
Wednesday, April 16, 2008

Remember when phone cards first came out? They were like a credit card, plastic, and expensive. But, as communication has developed, the prices have become lower, and the ease of use is now better, so that you no longer need a thick plastic card, you just need the PIN number. Now, imagine having a choice of literally hundreds different cards! You can now do this by going to phonecardsavenue.com, where they have masses of online phone cards of differing prices and loadings. Some are unlimited, but all are good value, and have to be, as you can do a search right there online to see how cards compare for the location you intend calling. For instance, I just searched for Philippines Cellular and got over 200 results, allowing me to easily do a good comparison of cards, including their rates and other features, such as whether or not there is a connecting fee up front. And the even better news is that to obtain the PIN, you don't even have to wait for a call-center to answer, as the number can be supplied online in just a few minutes, at least for all the cards I looked at just now. The savings by using a phonecardsavenue.com card are so great that it really makes having a long distance plan on your phone an obsolete thing to do. If you look at your bill, you will probably find that the more expensive calls are to a single number, or maybe a few numbers that are all in the same global location, making a card a good deal all-around. A major advantage, too, is that you can buy a load, and then if talking to a relative who thinks you are rich, the call will automatically get terminated when the time runs out. So, here is an opportunity to end the monthly commitment of a long distance bill, plus you can prevent other people from running up your bill, because with the card system, there is no longer any need for a long distance bill.

Hopefully no more...
Tuesday, April 15, 2008
Brrr....just browsing my photo album this morning and found this one. This was taken in February and yes it's snowing. We went out and got our grocery shopping. Would it be nice if we can just hibernate like other animals? you know, not go out in the winter. We would save a lot of money as we don't have to heat up our house. Or even just cut down all the hours we have to work, say to 4 hours a day in the winter time, something like that...lol... that would be perfect!.....So glad that winter is over though. Although occasionally it might still snow in April or early May here, it's not gonna stay that long. It might snow and then it will turn to rain after a few hours.

Magnifiers Are More Convenient Than Glasses
Monday, April 14, 2008
After watching my Hubby fool around finding his glasses all the time, I just know for sure that he will be interested to see the website I just discovered, firststreetonline.com , that has magnifiers for sale. It is always so much easier to look at something that appears to be larger, and that is especially true as we get older, when our eyesight gets poorer than it was when we were younger, and right now, his is worse than it was even a few months ago. So, I guess the only real decision to make as we age is whether to get eye-glasses that magnify, or go for another type or model of magnifier, and FirstStreet has a great choice online.

A Good Source For Gold Chain
One thing that I notice about buying gold in North America as opposed to buying it in the Philippines is that over here, more of the price is 'used up' in the workmanship. I think, though, that the quality overall is better here, and I like the look of the gold here, it seems more solid somehow. So, it is good to find an online source for gold chain that suits what my Hubby is interested in. Happily, too, he is interested in buying it for me, although how he can do that with his pension money, I don't know - I expect I will have to work harder!

It pays to play ignorance
We have a bunch of calls from our neighbour here, asking hubby to do this and that. It was fine at the beginning, but this has been going on for a couple of years now. Every little tasks she has, she have to call hubby. I have to admit, hubby does knows a little bit of everything and now he is paying the consequences. This lady doesn't stop asking him favors. Either it's related to paperworks(banks, loans, legality of stuff), computers, or just household stuff( furnaces, pipes, etc). It is getting irritating to me and especially to hubby. Whenever he sees the name on the phone, he'll turn red and just get wild. He would ignore the call sometimes, but you can only ignore it so many times and then you have to face her. So sometimes, it pays just to play ignorant!

Another great day
Spring is definitely here. Snow is almost gone from the ground, warm temperature and the sun is ever shining. We went to the city yesterday and took some photos on the way back. We detoured to a nearby lake to see if the fish that comes back every spring to lay eggs, has indeed come back. There is no sign of this fish yet. I think it's so amazing how they would travel all the way from the sea to this lake where they were born to lay their eggs. I still could not understand why they would do this, but apparently, they have been doing this for thousands of years. Once the eggs are hatched, they will swim to the sea, and then come back in the spring facing obstacles on their way and will finally lay their eggs here too.

I remember her today...
Wednesday, April 09, 2008
Today is my grandmother's birthday. She would have been 89 today. She sadly passed away 13 years ago back when we were all in the PI. It was one of the devastating moments we encounter as a family. My mom is the only kid she had, so when lolo passed away, they only have each other. And when my mom got married, she stayed with her. She was like a nanny to us. My parents were both busy working and our lola was the only one raising us at home. As the eldest of 5 kids, I learned a lot from her, she taught me a lot things. Cooking, sewing, organizing the household, babysitting my other siblings, etc. I have a lot of good memories of her. I like to think that I was her favorite grand kid. She used to take me to the bakery every time she has money and have snacks there. Siopao(steamed buns) and sprite were our favorites. Or we would go walking to the street corner and buy balot at night. She used to feed me well just before my exams at school. She would neatly arranged what I will need the next day. She would make sure I will go to bed really early that night, and she would wake me up at 4am to study. She said that early morning study is the best, and I agree with her. She used to love plants and I think I carry that today. Oh I miss her so much...wish she was still here with us....

Mortgage Lenders Give Good Interest Rates On Loans
Sunday, April 06, 2008
Mortgages are often a good idea even when the property has already been purchased, as the interest rates for mortgages are generally more favorable than those for loans, and especially unsecured loans. It is better to borrow upon equity that is already built up than to obtain a higher interest rate loan, and with the way that property prices have, overall, increased in the last ten years or so, most homeowners have spare equity that can be used to save money by giving mortgage lenders the security they need in order to give good interest rates, even if the loan is not strictly a mortgage as such.

How To Lose Weight
Saturday, April 05, 2008
Losing weight is, for most of us, a bit more difficult than it would seem to be. We just diet, right? No. To try that would be like quitting smoking and heroin addiction cold turkey, it might work for a very few people, but not most of us. The real secret of how to lose weight is to make it easy for yourself by tricking your body, which you have trained to take in more food than needed, into taking just the suitable amount to fulfill energy needs, but not so much as to have calories left over to create and feed the fat. Check it out at lab88.com

The day shift
Friday, April 04, 2008
Yes, I work in a company that rotate shifts. I don't think I'll be able to survive there that long. The pay is good, the workload is great, the people are not too bad. It's the shifting that's killing me. I love the day time job. It's normal..you get up in the morning, get ready for work, work all day, then come home and relax. But next week, I'll be back to evenings, which is annoying. Hopefully they will change this soon.

AShop Commerce Internet Sales Software
Thursday, April 03, 2008

Ashop Commerce is a web hosting company that supplies the use of software as well as server space. By doing this, they are able to give the businesses that they service good accessibility to all the features that are now expected for success in the e-commerce market. The businesses themselves are AShop's clients and in turn they give the facility of the conveniences offered to their own end customers, with, for instance, a secure site allowing the use of all major credit cards, this, incidentally, being done by having the shopping cart integrated with those same credit card financial institutions by using SSL protection. In this manner the end-user customer can pay online for goods or services with complete confidence about security. The 'shopping cart' method, which has become the benchmark for internet purchasing transactions, allows the end user customer to place purchased items into the virtual software cart, and then once the shopping cart activity is complete, the totals are totaled up automatically to determine the final total amount spent. As you will see on the website, they are also offering a free online 'store' design, as well as a free 10 day trial of the shopping cart software. These offers make it more convenient than ever for any business preparing to enter the online shopping marketing or ecommerce market. Businesses can save on their setup costs by utilizing this shopping cart software hosting service, as it is a very cost effective way to expand into the internet sales field. Another major benefit is that the ecommerce software gives a website a professional looking appearance that is equal to or better than that of larger sales and marketing organizations, and includes an optimization structure that is set up to be easily found by internet search engines, as well as giving the technical support to place webpages created uniquely to the top of search engines. This gives a total package solution, including free email, design services, fraud alerts, and promotional services.

The Wind Blows
We have had strong winds for two days now. Not just a bit blowing, but so strong that you might be blown over as you walk, or at least it feels that way. Even driving is more difficult, with the steering being pulled and pushed to make the road seem like it is moving! The good thing is that right now the frost is warming out of the ground, making it soft and muddy, and the wind is dry, we have no rain with it, so it will be just one more step towards summer.

Shopping Cart Ecommerce Software
Web hosting is where computer space is rented or otherwise made available to other users. Ashop Commerce is a Web host company that has software as well as space. This means that they are able to give their client's businesses good access to all the features that are recommended for success in the e-commerce market. So the businesses themselves are AShop's customers. In turn they give the enjoyment of the benefits offered to their own customers, with such things as a secure site that allows the use of all major credit cards, this being done by having the shopping cart software integrated with those same credit institutions while using SSL protection. This way the end-user customer can pay for goods or services online with confidence about security. The 'shopping cart' method, which of course is popular these days, allows the end user customer to gather purchased items into the software 'cart' and once the shopping cart session is complete, the totals are tallied up automatically to determine the total amount spent. Right now, they are also offering a free 'store' design, as well as free 10 day trial of the software. So it is easier than ever for any business currently preparing to enter the online shopping sales or ecommerce market. This really does give a total package solution, including free email, as well as the design services, fraud alerts, and promotion services.

America's Best Dance Crew
Tuesday, April 01, 2008
Do you guys watch America's Best Dance Crew?...it's been a hit here at home. All of us here are a fan of the Jabbawookeez. Just saw the finale yesterday. So glad that Jabbawookeez won the title. They have been our pick since the beginning and my son was just so thrilled watching the last episode. Jabba is now really popular and have inspired a lot of young people. The uniqueness place a role on it. They wear faceless mask and it does give the trick of forcing the audience to see them as one, as suppose to other crews who don't. This way, you don't know who's a little sloppy. This show will be back this summer and we can't wait! Anyways, just glad they made it.

Well, today is April fools day and it's a tradition to trick someone. It's not just it's fun, it's also allowed,LOL...my grandmother always played a trick on us every 1st of April, and I can remember her saying that you should do this fooling someone early morning. Since I have to go to work really early and everyone's still in bed, I fooled a couple of co-worker by telling them that the boss was looking for them. I can see that they were a little worried, and I pretended that it was genuine. Meanwhile, I told my boss about it and he was ready to play along. After an hour or so, there comes my co-workers and boss and congratulating me for the job well done! hehehe...
