Hubby's Plumbing Skills Increase!
Monday, July 28, 2008
I know that I mentioned in one of my blogs about how my Hubby broke off the shower head, and ended up replacing the whole faucet unit behind the wall of the shower enclosure.
Well, he still has to fix the kitchen faucet that he tried to repair over a year ago.
It drips.
Not a lot, but I have a plastic container below that I empty once in a while.
It was actually quite a good job he did in the bathroom, no leaks for a change, so I feel a little more confident in encouraging him to fix the kitchen faucets that he failed with last year, and he might as well get a new unit for that as well.
I think that with the old one that drips, he might have gotten it a little too hot when soldering it, and maybe melted something inside. He must have learned something, because he did mention that when he did the bathroom shower ones, he took the faucet unit apart to solder it.
So, time to nag him a little - he tends to do as I suggest, because he is retired and has no excuse that he doesn't have the time!

Acne Scars Can Be avoided
Once we get older, we are prone to forgetting acne as being unimportant, but looking back, with teenagers, it is far from that situation. Kids make fun of each other, and it is better not to stand out among others in a negative way. It is like with clothing , better to have at least one good item once in a while that is fashionable enough to allow being one of the 'in' crowd. But with the best acne treatment it is possible to fix what is more than just a school-time social problem, it is the ability to avoid getting lifetime acne scars, as well, so prompt treatment is essential.

The Air-conditioning Works!
Saturday, July 26, 2008
My Hubby is useful for some things in life. One is working on vehicles. He happens to know how to do just about everything from fixing transmissions right though to repairing paint scratches.
Anyway, he had a go at the broken aircon in my Jeep, and touch wood, it works.
He told me that most aircon units in vehicles leak a little over time, and he was lucky that they are now making non-ozone depleting refrigerant stuff for replacing the fluid that runs them.
So, it would have cost hundreds of bucks in a shop, but cost just about $60 or so in fluid, plus the pipe thing he used, which he is happy with, as it adds to the tools he has.
Better than his plumbing skills, anyway! This time he fixed something that had leaked, instead of creating something that leaks after he has fiddled around with it!

Check The Reviews Before Online Gambling!
Friday, July 25, 2008
If you fancy an online gamble, you will notice that online casinos seem to vary in type of games available, the way they pay out once you win, assuming you do win, which is actually very likely as the percentage payouts are in the high nineties. You will find, as I did, that on some websites the games that you might expect to be a table game such as roulette, for example, is presented as a slot machine version of the particular game.
Regulations exist also regarding the acceptance of US residents, due to US laws. So, if you are a US resident, it is good to be able to quickly identify the casinos that accept players from the US.
You can get a review of the best casinos online by clicking onto the online casino bluebook, as this is where you will find a quick reference to the top ten online casinos.
If you need more specific details, there are links there to reviews that you can look at that give better information as to what is offered, such as startup and loyalty bonuses, as well as the payout percentages.

Friday Is My Busiest Day, And Today Is Hot!
I don't know if it is just because I have no aircon in the Jeep right now, but it seems that today was about the hottest this year. I expect it just felt that way as I get no break from the heat until the air conditioning is fixed. But, we are into another weekend already, but the good thing is the next weekend we are planning a little camping break local to where my work is, provided the campground has spaces. Let's hope that the rain holds off for that!

Auto Air Conditioning - I need it badly!
Thursday, July 24, 2008
I managed to the Hubby all excited. No, I don't mean like that - I mean because the air conditioning on my Jeep just failed, and he tried a quick recharge with a kit he got, but it still doesn't work. He said it might just need more cans of the fluid, or might have a really big leak and need parts replacing. Anyway, he has friends who know about it, so they can advise him once he knows what it is doing it - must be a leak somewhere of course, but question is, a bad one, or a little one? Anyway, I found this place that does all kinds of parts for auto air conditioning, not just compressors, but those funny little pipe things and radiators. Be interesting to see if Hubby can pull this repair off, or whether it will be like his house plumbing, which is leaky!

We Missed A Tropical Storm
Here in Nova Scotia, on the east coast of Canada, kind of above New York and Boston, we tend to not get hurricanes, as the coolness of the ocean water takes the energy out of them before they reach here.
What we do get though is what they call the 'tail end' of such storms, the usual result being to dump a whole load of rain on us, together with moderately strong winds.
Anyway, we just missed one the other day, it rained a bit, then cleared out and was nice and cool for a bit, now it is hot and humid again. Never mind, the weekend will soon be here.

Fun online
Wednesday, July 23, 2008
When there is nothing else to do after blogging, I do like to go online and play some games. It does help me take a break from blogging or whatever it is I am doing. Playing online games is fun and of course, will take away some level of my stress. There are lots of stuff online that you guys might want to try, myLifetime.com has constant updates with tons of articles and features that every woman will love. From relationship quizzes, to daily horoscopes and fitness advice. This is the sort of site my sister and I love to visit. I am into checking horoscopes, and little sis is into relationship quizzes. So I should urge her to check this out...

Lose it!
Another tip for saving fuel is losing unwanted stuff in your car. Carrying extra pounds you don`t need will burn fuel. For every extra 100 pounds in your trunk burns 2% of your gas tank.So if you are not using it, take it out. Also, to reduce drag, you can also remove unused exterior storage accessories such as rook racks, bike racks, and roof mounted containers. Doing these little things will surely help to keep money in your pocket!

Consolidating
Tuesday, July 22, 2008
I have been trying to get my brother to get himself set up with a credit card for awhile now. He is new to the country and it is better for him to get his name establish by getting a small amount of credit card just to get into the system. I have the same intension when I first got my credit card...to get into the system and of course it was just for 'emergency' purposes, because after all, it wasn't my money to spend but I do have access to it if I need it. But like any others, I did use it to stuff I don't need but just want and so the problem begins. It came to a point that I can't pay these cards anymore and so I have to solve it by doing a debt consolidation at one point. It did help us, having only one payment and interest rates was cut down also. Lesson was learned though. Hopefully no more of that in the future..

Slow down!!!
As gas prices soar high, I am feeling the effect of it. I know that I am talking about this issue quite often these days, but I cant' help it. I am really affected by this. I was reading some articles at the Motor of Registry Vehicle's office and I came across a pamphlet about saving gas. One of the things discuss was about chilling out when driving. I have been driving quite awhile now here in the city and they do drive differently from people in the countryside. They seem to be in a hurry all the time. Chilling out helps save fuel. For every 10 kms/hr above 100kms/hr your drive, you are burning exponentially more fuel. Speed limits aren't just for safety, driving 120 kms/hr burns 44% more fuel than 100 kms/hr!!! Can you imagine that??? 44%! that's a lot! so slow down people..

His weakness
My hubby has a sweet tooth..Oh so sweet indeed! he would take a large coffee, put a couple teaspoon of cream and would put six teaspoon of sugar!!!! imagine that! I must be spending about $100 on chocolates just for him for Christmas. He does loves sweets, especially chocolates. We have to have a stock of sweets in the house or else he'll have to make a special trip to town just to get them. Sometimes though, he will trick me into going to a mall so he can go to a store and get his chocolate. Of course, who wouldn't like going to a mall, right?

Talking about gas prices...
Gas price went down again last Friday. I am so glad it did. I saved a little bit on that. When I was with my old job, driving back and forth to my house, gas wasn't a big deal for me, of course, it wasn't that high either. But now that I am driving in the city with this big SUV, I am feeling the effect of it. I am burning the whole tank in a week! That's what I am paying for running a little business.I do enjoy the freedom, but I am paying the price... Anyways, I am just happy that I saved again this week:)

Diet Pills Reviewed
Although diet pills are an excellent part of any diet program, they can also be used as a sole means of achieving weight loss.
There are many types of pill, and I have found a site that reviews over 200 of the different products available. It works by using 12 points to compare the products, taking into account not only price and quality, but also less visible items such as customer service and company reputation. They narrow things down to the top 10 best diet pills which are currently all running within an 8% range of each other in the ratings. I personally prefer to use diet pills together with a good diet with lots of fruit and of course vegetables for my own efforts in dieting and in this way maintain good general health while losing the weight. Another good thing to do is to have a good exercise regimen, not too strenuous, but consistent, I try to increase my exercising time by a few minutes each day, but then, I have to admit that I sometimes slip a bit on the exercise part of my own diet program!

Cooler This Week!
Monday, July 21, 2008
It seems that the mini heat wave that we had here last week has paused for a while, as it seems cooler today. I can always tell when it is cooler, as Hubby switches off the air-conditioner and switches on a fan that he has propped up by the window!
He has pointed out that there is no point in cooling the air we have, when there is cooler air already there. It is his chance to appear to be 'green', although I suspect he might just be being cheap!

Bodybuilding Supplements For Hubby?
Sunday, July 20, 2008
We went out to a water park today, and Hubby was a bit disappointed, as the girls in bikinis didn't seem to look as good as he had hoped. Really, for an old guy who has put on 50 pounds since I married him, he really is picky! What I ought to be doing is encouraging him to look into bodybuilding supplements so that he can revive his former glory! Might seem a bit late, but as the saying goes, 'better late than never'.

Up or down?
Tuesday, July 15, 2008
I was thrilled discovering the price of gas actually went down a little last Friday. Every Thursday night is when they change it, our gas prices here are regulated by the government and so it is scheduled every Thursday nights or Friday mornings. I always have to follow my guts every Thursday, if I fill up my tank, will the gas price go up or down the next day? most of the time, I am right about filling it up on Thursdays:)

UK Debt Solutions Avoid Bankruptcy
Speaking of paydays, life can be a struggle as far as keeping out of debt goes. Most of us have some debt of course, such as a mortgage perhaps, and maybe a hire purchase payment for a car, but generally, we have to be aware of keeping a good balance in debt amounts compared to our total income.
If we make an error in what we do, then we end up with a problem that might end up forcing us to go bankrupt. Obviously, it is a lot harder paying back money than it is spending it!
There are other options than bankruptcy, the primary one of which is making an individual voluntary arrangement (IVA) with your creditors - these are generally up to 5 years in length, and have advantages for both parties.
For you as a debtor, there is the fact that an end is in sight. You made the mistake, and can be allowed to make a good effort to repay what is owed, but without being condemned for a lifetime. For the creditors, there is the advantage of getting back larger amounts of funds than would be possible if bankruptcy were allowed or forced to occur. Abacusfinance.co.uk have lots of great information about this subject, and about Debt Management in a more general sense.

Changing Paydays - What A Challenge!
When I was working for a boss, the last place I worked at paid the wages every week. Here in Canada, that is a rarity, as every two weeks is more normal.
When I started my business, I have to depend upon the clients paying on time, and a lot of them don't do that.
So, it was about maybe 6 weeks before I received my first check, and then a month before the next one.
So, right now, I am running a bit behind with the finances, although of course when the pay comes, it is a large amount, so, we are actually slowly catching up.
And with each pay, the amount is larger, as there are new contacts being added all the time.
So, hopefully, we will get caught up within the next 3 or 4 months.
But, it is a consideration for anyone thinking about starting a business.
It takes longer to pay back the money than to spend it!

Nationwide Discount Furniture
Sunday, July 13, 2008
Based in North Carolina, but serving the whole continental US, Boyles furniture has a great selection of what might be regarded as better quality furniture than is perhaps available locally for many people. Their online showroom has some interesting features that make it fascinating to look at, as well as easy to select from a wide range of discount furniture.

Finding diet pills that work is easier these days, as it is possible to find review sites on the internet, such as http://diet-pills.sybervision.com/ that allow consumers to do comparisons of the most popular products on the market.
Coupled with a good exercise plan, as well as careful food selection, diet pills can be a useful help in controlling as well as reducing weight.

An Easy Start To My Small Business
Saturday, July 12, 2008
Starting my business, I wanted to bypass the slow expensive startup phase, and get some good usable income very quickly. By getting a franchise, the initial costs are put off and paid monthly.
This means that I have less stress, the office work and sales part is already done for me, and I can focus on the production side of the business. So, I bought a small business that was running almost instantly. Check it out - there is a searchable directory website where you can look at where there is a franchise opportunity to suit your skills.

I Can Relax About Hubby! Hehehe.
Thursday, July 10, 2008
I can relax about what hubby is up to with the taps in the bathroom.
They actually look very good, and it looks like the wetness he had on the pipes might just have been condensation with the cold pipe and warm humid weather.
So, at the last view, there was no wetness. But the weather has become less humid too.
Now, all he has to do is get the wall rebuilt where he gained access to the rear of the tub surround.

Nikon Binoculars
Wednesday, July 09, 2008

We have an old pair of binoculars that quite frankly, are junk. We got them at a yard sale, and they were just a few bucks.
I took a look through a good pair like the ones in the photo above a while ago, and what impressed me was that they didn't just make the items viewed look bigger, they also seemed brighter and lighter. Hubby says that it is because instead of the available light going into something the size of an eye, it was going into something the size of the outer large lens. Then it was being compressed down to a size where the eye could see it all.
I see that OpticsPlanet.com has a good deal on Nikon Monarch ATB binoculars - I can't remember if it was Nikon that I looked through before, but even if not, Nikon make good cameras, so their binoculars should be good as well.

I am worried about Hubby!
Tuesday, July 08, 2008
....But not very worried.
He has managed to break off the pipe that the shower thing attaches to, and now he has bought new taps/faucets and has installed them.
He said it all went well, but he needs to 'test for leaks'.
Now, I have a plastic catch can under the kitchen sink that fills up about once a month after catching drips, and another under the bathroom sink that fills up about every 2 or 3 weeks.
I wonder how long the new shower catch can will take to fill up?
I am assuming of course that it will need one!

So Predictable
Friday, July 04, 2008
As expected the gas prices went up again last night. It is now $1.44 per liter here in the city, it will be a little bit more in the country side. Our gas prices here is regulated, it will either go up or down, or stay the same, every Thursday night. I should have filled my car last night when it was $1.42 per liter, I would have saved a couple of bucks right there. It's too late now. I have no choice but to fill it up today because I will be traveling again tomorrow.

Allergy Sufferers Specialty Website
Allergy sufferers will be interested in a website that has products that are directed towards those with allergies. No more need to go through product information after product information, trying to see if there will be allergenic effects from it - take for instance water purifiers - some are better than others, but if it is being sold through allergybuyersclubshopping.com then the chances are that there are advantages as far as allergies are concerned.

Ipods And Stuff.
Thursday, July 03, 2008
The competition between retailers in selling Ipods is fierce, so any massive savings are probably not likely. The various models there are these days allows better choice, and of course the technology for ipods is always moving forward. Buy.com allows price comparisons, and here is a more general tip - watch out for shipping costs when buying small items, as those 'free' replacements for life that are sometimes mentioned on TV these days often come with a shipping cost that exceeds the value of the item! So, that is how they do that! At buy.com the shipping on selected items is free.

Short And Sweet Version Of The Previous Post Below
Tuesday, July 01, 2008
I just took a look at the post below, and the guy in the video actually has a point, although it is hard at first to see what it is.
What he is saying is that if the company providing a mortgage wants what is basically free referrals, then they have to treat the customer right at all contact points, from the first meeting, through to the signing of the legal documents.
This is SO TRUE.
It is possible to run a business with little advertising budget, if the actions of the business have integrity, then those individuals involved as customers will ensure that others hear about it.
What is the saying??? If you have a bad experience with a company, then the world will hear about it, if you have a good experience, a few people will hear about it.
