Hotel Life
Monday, March 30, 2009
It is interesting that most of us tend to think of home, whether rented or our own, as a place where we are basically left to our own devices as a far as our lifestyle goes. The dishes have to be washed, there are chores. But there is an interesting new market that some hotels and motels are providing for, and that is extended stay hotels. The great thing about an extended stay is that life becomes easier once things are more familiar. So, you find that you will tend to walk a bit more, and get into a new routine that will probably differ a little, or maybe even a lot if that is your wish, from your regular routine at home. There is actually a motel near where I live that has been giving a similar service for years, in that case, the people are often freshly divorced or separated who often just need a break from the lifestyle they have previously been living. But, whether for a vacation, or for business, an extended stay can have benefits.

My New Van
Sunday, March 29, 2009
I finally did it, went out and got a replacement for my written-off Jeep. It is a 2008 Chevrolet Uplander. 7 seats, so I will be able to fit all of both my families into it! Goes well, but as usual, the sales people give an incorrect image, with claims that the vehicles are all serviced etc, yet after less than 500 miles, I am getting a message saying that the oil requires changing. So, we will have to see. Hubby says he prefers to just 'change the darn oil rather than fight about ethics', and says that he thinks that this is a typical example of why we have an economic crunch - too much money taken out of the system at the higher levels. And too many companies realising that they can give poor service, as the population expands fast enough to replace the customers who will never return. But then, my hubby does whine a lot.

Wrinkles? Who? Me?
Saturday, March 28, 2009
The most extreme fix for wrinkled skin is to have it surgically tightened. The snag with this is that you can end up looking like a puppet. Plastic surgeons seem to delight in going just slightly too far. A better option might be to use eye cream to tighten the wrinkles around your eyes, at least, as this is one of the first areas to have wrinkles, I say it is because I smile a lot that I will have lots of wrinkles around my eyes as I get older. But whatever the real reason, it is almost certain to occur at some time in our lives. I want to go the cream route first, then see how things go, as looking like a puppet is not what I want to do!

Phones, oh phones!
Saturday, March 21, 2009
We all have different outlook in life, and that includes getting a new phone. My siblings and I are totally on the opposite side of the spectrum when it comes to phones. I only need a phone to get in touch with important people. And when I say 'get in touch' that means calling them{when needed} and being able to answer my phone when they need me:)....so does it matter to me what it looks like? yes, of course!! but not to the extend that I will have to pay 200 bucks on a three-year term. I always go for $0 for a phone on a long term plan. I will be kicking myself when in about 6 months or so, I will be able to get those $200 phones for $0. I could put that $200 into the plan to get it paid sooner. Or buy myself something nice.

My sibling on the other hand, is really looking forward to get a touch screen phone, whatever the very latest one. I think it's crazy to pay that amount when you can get a phone for zero dollar. I got this blackberry in December for $0 and I haven't even upload music or download my photos from it. So really, I can't be bother with the latest phones when all I really need is to be able to dial a number. Don't get me wrong though, I think those new phones are very sleek and stylish and I will get one eventually, when the time is right:) so what can I say? timing is the key, eh????bwahahahaha...

Skin Care
Friday, March 20, 2009
Proper skin care is easy to look after, as there are many modern products to replace lost oils, for instance, or to add a barrier to protect the skin from being affected by day-today chemicals that are a part of the society we live in. Another useful tool in the arsenal is microdermabrasion, which is a process that speeds up the natural renewal of skin cells. Remember, the skin is an organ, and needs all the assistance it can get!

Doesn't feel like spring..
"Spring has sprung"! it's a very popular saying today, well, of course, it's the first day of spring!...but it surely doesn't feel like it! The wind is just vicious today. My dad came with me to work early this morning, and was annoyed that he forgot his cap. Everyone thought that it's going to be nice today. Oh well, we are really almost there, a few more weeks and we will hit the warm weather. Yesterday was not bad though, it was about +8 Celcius.

Affordable Boat
Wednesday, March 18, 2009
Hubby has been talking about getting a boat. He has been browsing and looking for a good deal. We are not in a good position yet to get one though, but there is no harm in looking at some boats. Finally, on the weekend, we found the boat we can afford:)..hehehehe....hubby found this on ebay. The bid started at $500. He have to take a look at it, so we drove to the place last weekend. Pitty really, if we lived near this place, hubby would have taken this one. I think the owner left the boat on the water in the winter and it just sinked. It is only a 26 footer boat, but it would be fun to restore it and give it a go.

Wow - Summer Heat! (Well, almost!)
Monday, March 09, 2009
Funny how quickly it can turn from the depths of winter, with temperatures continually below freezing point, then suddenly open up into a kind of promise of summer. Even when the temperature is a few degrees below freezing, there seems to be more heat in the Sun in the last few days, and it shines through the ice and melts it from underneath. Just as well, I am getting really fed up with sliding all over the place when walking out to the car, let alone the risk of a fall.

Weekend Getaway.
We often think of a vacation in terms of taking a planned week or more, and preparing in our minds for months ahead to take the time off from work. These days, there tends to be more pressure than there used to be to stay at work for more days of the year, in order to protect your job from being eliminated or incorporated into someone else's as an additional task. So, it makes sense to take a look at weekend getaways that can be more spontaneous, and perhaps therefore more impressive in lots of ways, despite the brevity. They are also more impressive for the 'better half', as any surprise gift might be.

Dieting - Comparing Products
Saturday, March 07, 2009
Dieting products are a great way to lose weight, and those who have looked into it will know that they can work in different ways. Not only that, but there are many such products competing for sales, so it is sometimes hard to make a choice. The way around this is to go to a website that compares one weight loss pill with another. This can effectively take away the situation where you are comparing 'apples with oranges', as the saying goes.

Trees
Thursday, March 05, 2009
We tend to think of things like trees as just 'being there', but the fact is that they have to be either there by natures chance, or more likely if in a city environment, have been deliberately put there. The great thing about trees is that they are a good way to counteract the carbon we make by other things we do. Not only that, but if we choose to have, for instance, Plum trees on our property, we can benefit later from the fruit. I planted a cherry tree a few years ago, and because I had to move it as it was in the way of the snowplow, it has not yet borne fruit, but who knows, maybe this is the year?

Pet Beds Can Affect Pet Health
Tuesday, March 03, 2009
One reason why some people prefer not to have pets in the house is the hygiene involved. But it doesn't have to be a really big issue as long as a little care is taken. Regular brushing, regular vet check ups, and a regular change of bedding can all assist to keep your best friend healthy. As far as the pet beds go, there are many styles on the market that allow a tidier look than the old fashioned blanket in a corner of the room. Better for the pet, better for the family health in general, too.

She's pouring hard!
Monday, March 02, 2009

It is really raining this afternoon. I was a little worried driving to the city early this morning because of the freezing rain warning, but it wasn't really that bad. As a precautionary measures though, they have canceled the school for the day. A lot of the flights at the airport had been canceled too, but to my dismay, I still have work!!!lol...

Well, the freezing rain finally ended in the afternoon, and tonight we have heavy rainfall warning and vicious strong winds. I decided to pick up my mom from her work. I can't bear to think that she would be waiting for the bus with this kind of weather. I was afraid the wind might actually swift her off her feet:)lol...

Flooding might come with this heavy rain. I won't be surprised if the headline tomorrow morning will be flooding. All this rain washes most of the bank of snow though, which is really great. The roads in the city are a little wider now compare to last week^-^
