Speaking Of Hosses........
Thursday, August 27, 2009
I know, they are horses. Not hosses. Anyway, yesterday I was musing about having a horse and riding away, and then I realized after I made the comments that I could not even get near to doing it, as I am a gal, and us gals like our clothes. And for riding a horse, we need equestrian apparel, because apart from looking posh, even the name 'equestrian' just simply IS posh. But then, as I am riding into the sunset, I have no doubt at all that, knowing my luck, the horse will pause and create some fertilizer. Ruins the whole equestrian image.

Is there a horse season?
Tuesday, August 25, 2009
There seems to be a horse season in the village where I live. All winter long, there is no sign at all of anything resembling a horse. Not even a cow! They are presumably all tucked away in their barns, munching on hay, and, like us humans, waiting for winter to finish, and the horse season to start. Horses really are fun. My Hubby can keep his cold wet boats, I will wait until horse season (summer), get fixed up with what I need from a place that deals in horse supplies, and ride off into the sunset like Butch Cassidy, or maybe Annie Oakley.

Flash Drives Make Floppies Obselete
Monday, August 24, 2009
There is no doubt that the speed at which computers in general get outdated has slowed down from the pace of, say, 15 years ago. I remember buying my first PC, and then seeing that it was out of date about a month after the purchase. But it worked fine, and I had it for years. It had a floppy disk drive, and I had a large floppy disc drive too! Now of course, with the latest camera technology speeding storage device technology along, I can buy a Branded flash drive that has more memory that my whole hard drive had years ago. And my PC no longer even has a floppy drive.

The Hurricane Passed Us, No Damage.
Sunday, August 23, 2009
There was lots of fuss being made about a hurricane that was tracking up the East Coast, and was supposed to hit Nova Scotia today. Well, right now, the power is not even gone! I have power, and it is breezy outside, with heavy showers from time to time, but not dramatically stormy. So much for all the panic, at least as far as I can judge right now.
I think that the TV news people love to add drama to our lives!

Does My Hubby Need A Barcode Scanner?
Saturday, August 22, 2009
My Hubby is always whining and complaining about things. He needs to know where his stuff is, often needing it instantly. From my point of view, I just put things away, or tidy old stuff into the garbage. I really don't take too much notice exactly where I put it, as long as it is gone out of sight. So, Hubby was joking about my tidying habits the other day, and he suggested that we get a Honeywell Barcode Scanner so everything I tidy or throw away could be traced in a database! He might actually have a point. The only problem would bee that I wouldn't bother placing the barcode stickers on the sutuff I was trashing, so then how would he ever know where it was?

General Motors - good products? I think maybe not.
Tuesday, August 11, 2009
My 'new' van has done quite a few miles now since I first got it a few months ago. It is a 2008 Uplander, by Chevrolet, and I have a few complaints about it. The display keeps popping up with warnings that are not true. The most common is that this or that tire pressure is incorrect. Then there is the 'stability control' warnings. These all tend to happen more in wet weather. They all seem also to fix themselves after a few dry days. Then there is the noise when turning the steering. Like a spring bouncing, boing, boing. At the same time, it always seems to start, and get me where I have to go. But, I have to admit, if I had bought it for personal transport instead of business related, I would not be happy with it, despite the reasonable purchase price.

Losing it!
Review websites are the place to go when you are wanting to do comparisons of various similar products. After all, why wade through loads of information from the different websites when you can just go to one, and see the comparisons laid out in a manner that allow fair and easy comparing. Now, take weight loss pills for an example. Some sites will focus on their price of the product, others on how good it works, medical information, yada yada yada. But using a comparison website, it can make your life easy, and we all want that, right?

Insurance - great to have.
Monday, August 10, 2009
My Hubby has told me that he kind of wishes that he had taken out and maintained a good life insurance policy, instead of letting the ones he has expire, and then having to take a new one out. He certainly chose the expensive way. By getting a good policy while we are young, and maintaining it, we can save a lot of money, when compared with constant cycling of canceling then renewing.

Patio Furniture - Here's A Way To Save Some Work.
Sunday, August 09, 2009
Those of us who use patio furniture will be only too aware of the situation where you get a downpour, and then have to avoid sitting out for a few days, until the upholstery dries out. Now, just think - you can do away with that by using patio furniture covers that will keep things dry, yet still aired out. It is the only way to set thing up, in my opinion. I can pull the furniture out in spring, and not worry about it until the fall. It can also help by reducing color fading of the cushions etc.

North Carolina
Saturday, August 08, 2009
North Carolina seems like a great place to go for a vacation, especially if, like me, you tend to procrastinate, and end up missing getting away during the main part of the summer. Certainly you can be sure that the summer lasts a lot longer in the Outer Banks area than it does in, say, New York, or Boston. So, this year, I am thinking, wait until the end of summer, when that sharp little nip starts to be in the air overnight, then take a vacation in the Outer Banks area. I don't think that I will regret it.

Burning Away Fat
One of the best things to remember about any attempt to lose weight is that it tends to work better if done gradually, and it is better to do it in ways that the body finds natural, such as by using the best fat burners to burn away the calories of fat by using them up, generally in the form of energy. Now, if you then add to this some good choices in food, plus a good exercise regimen, then you just about have it all under control. No overkill on any one method, because you are choosing a good gradual way to take advantage of the way your body naturally works.
