DISCLOSURE POLICY
Medical work can be recession free.
Tuesday, September 29, 2009
I was thinking a while ago about how to make sure that I am positioned so that I never get laid off. I figure that the food industry might be a good place to be, as well as anything else that is driven by human need, such as a doctor or nurse, or, if I didn't want to have such direct contact with the actual looking after of the patients, then taking a look at the
medical coding training courses that are available might be a good idea. These are people who deal with the billing side, and that will always be needed , even with universal health care, as the work has to be submitted as having been done at some level.

Settling Down In a City
Saturday, September 26, 2009
It is interesting to me that despite all of Hubby's protests, he seems to be settling down to city life quite well. We went back to the "country mansion" today, as I had to get some tires for my van, and he was quite keen to get back to the apartment.
On the other hand, there is no longer any TV cable service at the old place, as his daughter prefers to watch tv via a high speed internet link, rather than pay premium prices!

"Buy" Sells Books Too!
Friday, September 25, 2009
We all tend to instantly think of Amazon as the major online book outlet, just as we tend to think of Google when we think of search engines, but it is a fact that Amazon is not alone by any means.
Amazon books has some healthy competition in the form of buy.com who are certainly well established, and are better known for good prices than is Amazon. Worth checking out. Actually, on the same subject, I notice that Hubby seems to be looking at books more than he did a while ago, I think it must be the newspapers being around and more available in the city than in the country environment. Thinking ahead, and with Christmas, yes, you heard it, looming in just a few months now, it might make a cheapie yet appreciated gift.

Asbestos - More is known now.
Sunday, September 20, 2009
I remember having a doctor tell me once that when people started smoking a lot, which was during World War 2, there was little known about the real effects of it. Then when the population aged, the problems became more obvious.
It is the same regarding asbestos. Sure, the dust from it made people cough, but so does wood dust. Then as more was known because of the victims getting older and suffering more,
Asbestos legislation was passed forbidding it's use, and setting guidelines for the handling of it. Mesothelioma is a condition that is linked to asbestos exposure, so if you know anyone who is a sufferer, get them to look deeper into getting compensation, it might make their lives a bit more comfortable.

Motorhomes, OK until the breakdown occurs!
Saturday, September 19, 2009
We all try to be optimistic, especially when taking a vacation. And those of us with motorhomes or similar have no doubt given the vehicle a good "once-over" before setting out. But it is a fact of life that machines can wear out, or have parts break unexpectedly. It is the nature of the beast, I guess. So, being fore-armed as well as forewarned might be a good idea. Good Sam has a great range of
motorhome towing rescue plans to suit the needs of taking away the doubt, while at the same time not making the whole trip too expensive to consider.

Take The Tiresome Out Of Partying
Friday, September 18, 2009
It is nice to spend some time being a host. It is a chance to give back to friends for them being friends. It is maybe also a chance to move forward with business plans, by mixing business in with pleasure. But it is not always easy to create a good positive impression in all aspects. Sure, the hiring or appointing of a friend as bartender will help, provided that they have a good knowledge of mixing drinks. And so can getting your
party invitations dealt with professionally. Finally, don't forget some thought to how your guests will get home. So, a bit of thought makes a party go well.

Big News - Lazy Hubby Gets Job!
Wednesday, September 16, 2009
Hubby finally got off his backside and went back to work. He wants stuff, and I see no reason why I should buy them when he is perfectly capable of providing them for himself. Good for me!
The actual truth is that he wants to rebuild some savings. I think he might have a good point, as we have to assume that as the economy gets better, then money can be made by having investments.
But I bet he will buy his silly guy toys, as well - wait and see.

Do Retailers Pass On Their Savings?
Thursday, September 10, 2009
It is easy to say that retailers pass on savings, but this is the information that we actually get from the retailers themselves. The fact might well be that they do not. Hard to tell. But I do know one thing, it just HAS to be cheaper for a retailer to sell online. Working out of a warehouse directly avoids obvious expenses, such as salespersons wages. But I have no doubt in my mind at all that the products that are best sold online are those where there is actually no shipping involved, such as insurance. So, there becomes a whole separate market really, with online retailers competing online, and the rest competing in the older ways. As for me, I can see the advantages of being able to get my
auto insurance quote online. The service is quicker, the situation more competitive. That means only one thing for me, and that is savings.

Is your pond healthy?
Sunday, September 06, 2009
Ponds are nice to have. I think that it is the Japanese who build whole lifestyles around having water as part of their domestic scene. It is not just about goldfish, which of course are carp, but about the plant life, I suppose I should call it aquatic plant life that should be part of any pond. I think though, that the average pond is actually too small to have a natural balance, and so maybe that is why they have
pond filters. A good tip I got regarding my aquarium, is that it should never be fully cleaned out, as this is bad for the water quality. I suppose that we have to remember that we are catering first of all to the fish, not to ourselves.

My son changes schools.
Thursday, September 03, 2009
My son is going to a new school. We seem to spend out time half in one place, and half in the other, so I booked him into a school in the area where I work, rather than being forced to commute every day. In any case, we now have relatives staying in the house, so I feel better able to leave it and get an apartment in the area where my work is.
It will seem funny not having to do all the driving, but I think that there will be savings in not doing so, despite the extra expenses.
We will see.

My Faucets are corroding.
I made a bad mistake a while back. Hubby is not too good at plumbing, although he does get it done after a fashion, you know, the bucket under the sink kind of fashion. Not much dripping, but enough to fill a gallon bucket about once every month. Anyway, I bought some cheapo non-brand name faucets, and I have regretted it for a few years now, as they quickly became scruffy looking, I think it is because the water here is very acidic. But even so, you would think that even the cheap manufacturers would have the sense to make their products last more than about 5 years. Anyway, lesson learned, next time, which will be over this winter, I will make sure hubby buys better quality, such as
Kohler faucets.
