A Green Christmas
Saturday, December 26, 2009
So, after all the snow we had last weekend, it ends up being a green Christmas. Not there is no snow - there are patches outside, but the whole area is basically green rather than white. Now, I have to admit, nice for the snow plow operators, at least they get Christmas off this year. But their bank managers might not be so happy.

Getting Fit For Summer
I missed my weight reduction goal for over Christmas. In fact, I have no doubt that I might well have added a few pounds, I know I did during Christmases in the past. And now we are into the cold and slippery weather it gets harder to go for a walk to get exercise. I am thinking that it might be a good idea to get some fitness equipment provided I could get something that will fold away, and maybe tuck under the bed.

Seeking Help
Wednesday, December 16, 2009
Sometimes as we go through life we cannot see in ourselves what is obvious to others. Pressures from work or from social situations can cause a need for relief from stress, and it is all too easy to start taking an easy way out in order to continue functioning. Eventually, of course, if this route is taken, things get so bad that the only answer is a drug rehab program.
Now, prevention is better than cure, and you don't need to have attended Stanford University to have that figured out.
The modern trend of course is for friends to gather and talk frankly to anyone that they have as a friend, and who has problems. This is called an intervention, and such support can be a great help to the particular victim of their own self.

Windy Winter - Where is the global warming?
Friday, December 11, 2009
I probably shouldn't joke about global warming. But I have to admit that the last few days it has seemed that nothing like any kind of 'warming' has occurred. First we had a quick and sudden dumping of a few inches of rain, but before that, there was maybe 6 inches of wet snow. The result? Slush City. But the worst part was the wind. It was almost too dangerous to walk anywhere. The rain appeared to be horizontal, and we all got soaked even by walking maybe 100 feet or so.
Now the whole thing has frozen, ice everywhere, and the high winds still happening.
Brrrrrrrrrrrr - yup, winter is here!

Online Degrees come of age.
Thursday, December 10, 2009
I can remember when I first heard of online degrees. They came hot on the heels of phony diplomas. And, in turn, this has caused there to be more scrutiny paid to personal documentation. The whole thing moves around full circle. Nowadays, an online degree can be obtained from a reputable source, and have proper and deserved credibility.
One of the most important things when selecting an education is that the educational facility is acccredited. This is because education these days is not just about knowing the subject in question, but to be able to have a kind of provenance to prove that your knowledge exists. This comes with the paperwork, the degree obtained, and that in turn must be known as acceptable proof that the knowledge is there to back up the claim, if you can call it that.
Overall, it will be interesting to see, in the coming years, how the status of online education improves as the credibility is proven in practice. I guess that this burden will be upon the shoulders of the first graduates once they get established out in the real world.

Are Weight Loss Pills Effective?
Saturday, December 05, 2009
I used to wonder if weight loss pills are really effective. After all, there is a good reason to increase weight, and it is eating. Eat the wrong amount of food, or the wrong type, and weight is gained. The problem is that the foods that are generally available are deliberately set up to taste good, and this is done by adding sugar, and maybe fats. So, a person becomes a battlefield, eating unhealthy foods, and then combating this by taking measures to decrease weight. But, we have to do what we have to do, and moderation becomes the keyword. Take the weight off slowly, and it has a better chance of staying off.

Eyes That Captivate
Thursday, December 03, 2009
One of the main body parts that people look at when meeting, is the face. And of the face, probably the main parts are the mouth, and the eyes. So, especially if your life involves social or business contact, it becomes important to avoid dark circles under your eyes. Some people have these as a natural feature, but it is a fact that they can become more prominent when tired. Plenty of sleep can assist in avoiding this problem, as well as checking products out that can assist.

Acne - Teenage Scourge?
Tuesday, December 01, 2009
So far, my son, who is just right now at the age where it could be a problem, has not shown any signs of experiencing acne. It seems that it must be that some do, and some don't. And of course, this comes at a time in life when the last thing a teenager needs is to look 'bad' socially. Let's face it, kids can be cruel, and 'Crater Face' is not a good nickname to have, especially as it might stick longer than the teenage years, and certainly after the acne phase is over. Kind of makes it important to get a good acne treatment.
