DISCLOSURE POLICY
A change is as good as a rest
Friday, January 29, 2010
In some ways, it would be nice to just move house every few years. Just a change of scene can be cheering, but of course it is also disruptive to our lives. Another way to make a change of scene is by redecorating the home, maybe changing the current seating for one of those
modern sofas that can be seen in Home and Garden type magazines, or on TV.
When you think about it, a couple of cans of paint can go a long way in creating a change of scene by changing the decor, especially as these days, the brushes can be just bought at a dollar store, then disposed of once used. Now, that is not as destructive to the environment as it may seem, as you no longer have to use liquid paint cleaners to clean your brushes before storing them.

Business is good
Thursday, January 28, 2010
With all the hype about the economy, it gives food for thought. My own experience is that it makes little difference to me. Those of us who have jobs, have the income to allow us to spend money, and those who are laid off no longer have the money to spend, simple as that. So, I thank God that I still have the work.

Getting Compensation
The world is not always what it seems to be. Even what appear to be reputable companies will generally change their attitude once challenged with a situation which may eat into their shareholder profits. And of course there are others who deliberately encourage acts by their employees in order to make more profits, and often protest about those same acts as if they care. Take asbestos exposure as an example. It was used for years, and it was not known how dangerous the dust from it was. Then, once it was known to be dangerous, some companies carried on using it, as they could make money at the time if they continued it's use.
The answer, if you have been affected by asbestos, is to consult a good
mesothelioma lawyer, who can at the very least advise you of the possibilities of taking the matter further.

Dental Implants Are far better than dentures
Wednesday, January 27, 2010
Tooth loss need not be forever, like it generally is for most people. The plain fact is that dentures are not a good option, as they tend to get loose, and are an extremely uncomfortable way to enable a person to eat. The problem is that as you apply pressure to chew the food, you have the gums trapped between the jawbone and the dentures. It is like being pinched at every chew.
The way around this is to get dental implants. They are a two-part item, with the actual implant being attached to the jawbone, just like the original tooth was, and the tooth part fits onto that after the implant has had time to get settled. David H. Wilhite the
implant dentist Plano and surrounding area is a good example, and has a website showing what this involves.

The Warm Weather Did The Job!
Tuesday, January 26, 2010
So, we are clear of ice and snow, all except for a few snowbanks where the snow was thicker because of it being plowed there. The roads are wider, the markings can be seen better. And it is forecast to be above freezing overnight, as well, which will get rid of the remaining stuff, or nearly so.
We are working our way towards spring!

Auto Insurance, - better pay attention now.
When my Jeep was written off by a cellphone driver coming through a stop sign, it was interesting to see the behavior of the insurance adjuster. She seemed hell-bent on running up as large a bill as she could, paying for the rental car, and for the extra insurance premium on it. Then I realized what was going on - it was punishment time. She was going to have her insurance company sue the individual for the expenses incurred, and she was making sure that the bill was as high as possible, so he might think again before choosing to drive with no insurance.
Now, you have to have auto insurance, so why not get
auto insurance quotes online, right from a seat in your living room.

Here's a great product - shrink tube.
Monday, January 25, 2010
They have been using a product in industry for years now, and it also has applications around the home. It is simply
shrink tube that can be shrunk onto an object, either to cover up rough areas, increase the overall strength, or even just the obvious reason - to insulate it from electricity.
For instance, say you are joining two wires together on your vehicle - you will probably just twist them together, and wrap some tape around the joint. Then when you ho to the same area a few years later, the tape has unwrapped itself, and the wire joint is bare.
The obvious answer is to slip a piece of shrink tube over the wires before twisting them together - this is the only hard part - remembering to slip the shrink tube on first - then once the wires are twisted or even better soldered together (don't forget to use resin flux, not acid, on electrical parts) you slide the tube down over the joint, apply some heat, and it shrinks tight over the joint.

Warming up to winter
Sunday, January 24, 2010
Warmer weather hits with a bang. Seems that this winter, most days are above freezing, although we did just have few days in a row where it stayed below. Now it is going to be great, because we are expecting a few days in a row with warmer weather, and windy, which always helps to melt the snow.
Great to have a clean-up in the middle of the winter season. Wash away the road salt, and the ice and reduce the snowbanks.
Wonderful for driving, the roads will get wider again!

Ceiling fans, winter and summer.
Saturday, January 23, 2010
When we think of ceiling fans, many of us think of old movies like 'Casablanca', and those fans slowly rotating, in the days before proper air conditioning. Now, I don't want to seem like I know it all, but I have found that having a good ceiling fan, such as a
Minka Aire, is more of a help in winter than in summer. In summer, the fan just seems to move air, but in winter, you can set it up to blow the warmer air from the upper parts of the room, and into the levels where you are actually living. This in turn allows a lower thermostat setting, and the savings in heat are more than the cost of running the fan.

A good smoke and brandy, maybe?
Friday, January 22, 2010
As my Hubby gets into his retirement mode, he talks more about just relaxing, and maybe having a drink in the evening. Might be a good plan, as he tends to fall asleep during the day a lot, then keeps me awake at night. And he might take up selecting from his collection of big
cigars, and have a quiet smoke as well. I don't actually mind the aroma of cigars in the house, it is so much better than cigarettes.

Insurance - you'll regret it if you don't have it!
Thursday, January 21, 2010
Insurance is a weird thing. After all, we pay up front, and it seems like the money is wasted, and this can go on for years. But the plain fact is, once you need it, you will be relieved that you have it. And it is easier these days, to see if you are getting a good bargain, as you can get
life insurance quotes online. Actually you can get other insurance quotes online too. Better than the good old days, when we had to wait for the mail to arrive to see what the quote was.

My Hubby is like a baby
Wednesday, January 20, 2010
I might have said this before, but my Hubby really is a big soft baby. He just has to get a slightly sore throat, or a cough, and he acts like he needs hospitalization. He currently has a touch of Strep Throat. The result? - he needs feeding and sleeps all day, while taking as much time off work as possible. But at least I get the impression that part of it is genuine, he seems to have no energy for anything he wants to do, either.

Insurance savings for businesses
One of the unavoidable costs when you run a business is
business insurance. You have to have it, or you are opening up the risk of losing everything that you have worked for. And of course, with a business, the amounts are more than for when you are just working for an employer. The turnover is higher, and if everything goes well, the income is higher, but the losses are also higher if things don't go so well, and it just needs someone to slip and fall, and the costs can cripple the average small or medium business.

Jobs In Philly
Philadelphia is quite the big city. Generally, it is a great place to live and to work, especially if your specialty is non-industrial type of work. I think that maybe things are shifting around a bit as the economy picks up, and places that were full of employment prospects might now be a bit less fortunate. Anyway, it is worth looking at
Philadelphia jobs, but make sure to check things like rental costs before making a move. Of course, if you are already a Philadelphian, then you already know the cost of living.

Vacation Time
I have some friends who live in Tampa, Florida, and it seems really unusual when they talk about the tourist season being in the winter months, when I think of winter as being so cold that the last thing I would need is to waste a vacation by taking it then. The same occurs in Europe, I think, with the busy time for places like Spain being in what to the rest of us is winter. So, remember, if you need an
Orlando vacation, now is the time to join in the party!

I seem to be Hubby's taxi!
Tuesday, January 19, 2010
So, he parks his Jeep, as the inspection ran out at the end of December, and it seemed a good idea to just use one vehicle, but I have to admit that I am getting a bit tired of having to fit into his schedule as well as my own. He works evenings, and finished after midnight, so I have to drag myself out and pick him up. The only good thing is that we are saving on the insurance, and might even be saving a bit on the gas too, his seems to be more of a guzzler than mine.

Stretching things?
Sunday, January 17, 2010
I need to do some shrinking, and not only as far as weight goes. My Hubby has a face that seems like his skin is bigger than the stuff under it. Like a sausage that someone stole half of the meat from! Actually, he probably would be able to reduce the effect by just using some good
anti wrinkle treatments to shrink his loose skin a little. Then he would look like his old photos again, maybe!

Winter Sun Seems More Intense
Saturday, January 16, 2010
I have often looked out on a winters day, when it is crisp and clear, and wondered about why the sun seems to look brighter somehow. I am betting that it is a true fact, and that it is not just something that I am imagining. I bet that the air borne pollutants are somehow held down by colder air. Hmmmm, I must Google that and see if I am right or not.

Softening Up Skin
Anti-aging. It is a phrase that is used a lot these days, and is a very descriptive one. The plain fact is that such things have become reality due to the side effects of medical research in general. We now know more about the way that the body works, and so we can figure out ways to make adjustments, especially if only small adjustments are required in order to achieve the desired effect. So, it is now worth looking more seriously at
antiaging skincare products. They can make the difference that you need.

Hormone Adjustment
Friday, January 15, 2010
It is probably too late for my Hubby to try to get 'ripped abs', whatever abs are, and he certainly would never gain large amounts of muscle, except maybe in his head, but anyway, never mind, it would be interesting to put him on a course of hormone adjustment to add a bit more testosterone by taking some kind of
testosterone booster to assist in the adding of some muscle. Then at least he could maybe find the energy to get up out of his chair in front of the TV, and give me a hand with the dishes!

Tightening Up Skin
I believe that I have started to get wrinkles figured out. The skin is a little dry on the surface, and might also have stretched a bit. Then when not stretched, it has no place to go, so the wrinkles appear. That would also explain how
wrinkle serum works, it probably makes the skin more flexible, and possibly shrinks it a little, like that feeling you get at the end of a day at the beach and swimming, when you have dried out.

Are weekends wetter and colder than mid week?
Thursday, January 14, 2010
Seems to me that we often have a good week, then the weekend hits and the weather turns bad. This is not imagination, I read somewhere that the industry in the mid-west of the US creates pollution that takes time to move east and cause poor weather. So, we can blame the mid-west for the weather! Now, if I could just find a way to blame my Hubby for it, that would be really sweet!

Creams for the Daytime
We all know about night creams, or at least, all or most of us gals do. But it is also good to have some daytime cream as well, to protect the skin a little from the elements, and avoid the drying that can occur especially when the humidity levels are low. The best way to find a good
day cream is to get different opinions, such as reports from other users who have rated the product. Just bear in mind that the leading one might not be specifically the best for you as an individual, so keep an open mind, and don't be afraid to try the second rated one as well.

Creaking Joints
My Hubby is regularly mentioning his creaking joints. I can't hear them creak, he just claims that they are creaking. I thought creaking was a noise thing, but he says it is a feeling thing. Maybe he is getting arthritic in his old age, but in any case, the
joint pain he complains of ought to be looked at by a doctor, or maybe just get some kind of supplement to ease it a little, or even a lot, for that matter.

Winter Blahs
The cold is here, the wind is here, but all we have for snow is some piled up dirty looking snowbanks that have frozen solid and create narrowing of the roads. Almost makes me want to move south, but then Hubby would just start whining about the heat. On the other hand, I could leave him here, and take myself further south. Now, that's a thought!

Or maybe Florida.......
Tuesday, January 05, 2010
When we hear of Panama, we tend to think of a canal, a country, and shipping. The fact is, like most places, there is another Panama, and the one to look at is the one in Florida. Now, winter tends to be the so-called 'season' in Florida, but the fact remains that there are still some good
cheap hotels in panama city beach fl and it is a destination that offers great variety in the type of vacations available, from the quiet, to the party-time.

Outer Banks Vacations
Sunday, January 03, 2010
Those of you familiar with the Carolinas will be familiar with the Outer Banks. It certainly is a picturesque area, and has been kept that way by careful planning, for the most part. It makes a great getaway destination, and there are many and varied
Outer Banks rentals available for suiting different tastes in a vacation. But above all, the great thing is that you can just get into your car and drive there.

Getting Snowy Around Here!
Saturday, January 02, 2010
Well, the "Green Christmas" is all done now. But we are looking whiter by the minute as the New Year came in with a couple of feet of the white stuff that we have to shovel. Now, the great thing is that as we are in the city most of the week, it means that we actually have no shoveling to do - but the relatives at our house that has the driveway will have the shoveling!

Life Insurance - Gets More Important The Older You Get.
Friday, January 01, 2010
Like a pension, having a good life insurance policy gets more important to you as you get older. It also gets more expensive to start up a new policy if you are older. The way to go is to get the policy when you are fairly young, and be sure to keep paying the premiums no matter what. After all, these days it is easy - you can get a
life insurance quote online.
