I am getting restless.
Monday, March 29, 2010
Seems like everyone around me is getting to go on vacation, and meanwhile, I have to work.
Ones of the things about running a business is that you cannot just let the boss know that you are taking time off. Well, you can, but you would be talking to yourself.
I have to look at getting things running a bit bigger, so I can get someone to supervise what is being done.
I want to go to England. My Hubby comes from there, and I would like to see what it looks like to be there, and kind of get a feel for the place.
One of the probs with the UK though, is that it is either raining, foggy, or cold and windy.
The 'season' is just a short summer. So, too late for this year, but I really have to get it set up, hopefully for next year.

Personalizing Gifts to show that you care
Saturday, March 27, 2010
When giving a gift, there is always far more impact, and acceptance, as well as value placed upon the item, if there is thought put behind it.
I suppose that is why it is considered a bit tacky to just give money, although for teenage kids, money works really well.
A better way though is to have something that shows that you have paid an extra bit of attention to the recipient of the gift.
When we look at what a personalized gift is, one of the most striking things is that it is possible to have gifts made up that include a likeness of whoever is receiving the gift. I like the idea of the oil painting. How do they do that? You just send a photo, and an oil painting results from it. Cool.

Retail Cost Cutting
Wednesday, March 24, 2010
I was once told that you can make more money just buying in goods, then selling them, than you ever can by manufacturing something. The great thing about just being what is really a middleman between the people who make things, and the people who buy them, is that if a product is poorly made, or there is a complaint, then, as middleman, you just refer the problem to the manufacturer, and it is them who have the spend their money fixing things.
Setting up as a seller of things, a retailer, can be expensive though, and you have to allow for the amount of time that you have the goods, and have paid for them, balanced against the point where you sell the goods. Then of course, you have to have a sales location, fitments to display the goods that are for sale, as well as residual, but important items like for instance a cash register or receipt printer as well as of course, these days, a terminal to allow purchases by debit and credit card.

Insurance Quotes Online
Monday, March 22, 2010
One of the main features of doing any kind of business online is, or should be, speed. Unfortunately, a lot of companies appearing to do business online are not actually geared up to do so. But one of the exceptions are service companies, ones that have a product that is not a manufactured item, or something like a car customizing item, where they would have to install it.
You can pretty much rely on getting answers from a website that features quotes from multiple sources, probably because those same sources actually drive the efficiency of the way business is done. So, things like insurance can be easier for consumers to manage, by getting free insurance quotes online instead of making tiresome phone calls then having to wait for a response.

Hot Hot Hot
Saturday, March 20, 2010
Yes, Hot Hot Hot. I am actually kidding, it is not yet actually hot weather that we are experiencing, but it sure feels a lot better than the snowstorms and ice of winter. I don't believe it is actually spring yet, but it is going a long way towards it right now.
The snow and ice beside the roads has melted, and we are now experiencing the sun hitting darker ground, which always warms things up faster.
I must start planning a few trips away this year, I haven't had any for a while.

Wrinkles away, I say!
Years ago they never had the medical knowledge that is around in more recent years. And this particularly applies to medicatins that are directed more towards beauty than they are to curing some disease.
Eye creams are a good example. Most wrinkles first appear around the area of a persons eyes. And so these days you can just look online for the best eye cream that is available by going to a website that has comparisons and reviews. This is not to say that the leading product will be the best for you in particular, but for sure it will make a great starting point to lean on the advice and experiences of others who have tried the products before.

Institutional toilet paper
Friday, March 19, 2010
Just a thought. Now, call me fussy, but I have to say that I have noticed things that my Hubby has been whining about for years.
Have you ever noticed how public washrooms tend to have the toilet roll dispenser mounted so close to the ground, that you almost bang your knuckles?
And the paper? You pull it, and it comes off a big roll, and as you pull, the width narrows down to about a couple of inches.
It is almost as if it was a comedian who designed the paper, making it narrow when stretched. Then that way, you have to use more, they sell more, make more money.

Guys, get that bodybuilding done for summer!
I don't know how some of these guys do it. You see them on TV, and they have bodies that are all muscle. The natural way that any guy might be that way is by having a natural large amount of testosterone. What is the saying, survival of the fittest. But of course modern medicine has come up with ways for puny guys to do some catching up. A good regimen of exercise, such as weight lifting, plus maybe some testosterone boosters to add to the effect, and even if your body is not exactly like a bodybuilders, it will approach that same look. Then you can go shopping for all those new shirts. Or maybe just wear the small ones you have, only look tighter!

Comparing Dieting Methods
I guess anyone would be crazy to try all the dieting methods that are around these days. Some parts off these seem OK to combine with others, such as good exercise and 'balanced' diet, whatever balanced means. Others are now so clearly combine-able. Take diet pills for example. There are two main types, the ones that suppress hunger, and the ones that burn the fat after consumption, or, more accurately I suppose, set the body up to burn the fat. I don't know if I would want to mix those two, the pills, the fat burners and the appetite suppressants. So, I would go with one type of pill, plus the exercise, and the balanced diet.
Except when I go to functions, and eat whatever I wish to!

Will Hubby's Boat ever float?
Thursday, March 18, 2010
I have no idea if Hubby will ever get his 'new' (1960's) sailboat to actually float. Right now he says that he is in a catch-22 situation, as the various Yacht Clubs all need insurance on the boat in order for it to be located there, and the insurers all want the boat to be surveyed, and any faults found fully repaired before issuing the insurance.
So, although he did have a yacht club agree to him having the boat there, when he applied for membership, he found that he has to go through an acceptance process, and right now, they have the money he sent, but he has heard nothing. Seems like the application might be tied up in politics. Perhaps he uses the wrong aftershave!

Wrinkle Cream - Should it be Unwrinkle Cream?
It always amuses me when I see something that is named for what it prevents or fixes, rather than what it causes. Then of course there is my Hubbies joke about recycled toilet paper. But there has to be a way to describe a product, any product, that makes sure that everyone knows what the product is all about. So, there has to be a bit of commonsense used, so that we know that under eye wrinkle cream cures wrinkles under the eyes, not causes them.

Acne Control
Monday, March 08, 2010
There are quite a few acne treatments on the market, and many are available online. The fact is, though, that they will tend to vary in the way in which they work. Some of the discrepancy is unavoidable, as it is a function of the skin type, and I guess we are all stuck with that, but there are also vast differences in cost, as well as basic efficiency in the results that each product gives. The way to make an initial choice would be to go online to where there is an acne treatments review website, and make your first choice from there.

Branson Season Is Open
Sunday, March 07, 2010
Branson Missouri has expanded over the last few years to become a major entertainment center, sure, not as large yet as Vegas, but getting there, and giving more, in many aspects, than Vegas ever could. The season starts around mid March, so it looks like we are all go go go to pick up on one of the Branson vacation packages that are available to save money. A quick search online will reveal more about what is available in the way of vacations. And remember, an early season visit to anywhere is nicer than waiting until the shine is gone.

Do we waste resources buying new cars?
Thursday, March 04, 2010
It is often interesting to see the old cars that are running in countries that have a climate that doesn't include the need for salt to be spread upon the roads to melt the ice and snow. I am not thinking so much of Cuba, where those old American cars are often running using Russian engines and transmissions, but of places where the cars and trucks are basically the original thing.
I am thinking of changing my van again, and I do have this thought in the back of my head that I might be part of the problem in global warming and catastrophe. But, on the other hand, someone else will get to run my current van until it runs no more, so there is no real gain by me being the one with an older vehicle!

Good SAT scores, or GREAT SAT scores.
Wednesday, March 03, 2010
There is a good way to get good sat scores, and that is by cramming the revision, and hoping for the best. But there is now a better way, more certain, and more calculated in the end result. This latest idea in sat prep is to do it online, and have a teacher assisting and coaching to focus on the weaker areas and bring them up to par. Just another way that the internet has matured in the services that it can offer.

Wedding Accessories
Tuesday, March 02, 2010
I don't know if the word accessories is a correct description, but it is a fact that there are now outlets that specialize in more than just, say, a wedding dress. The whole idea of a wedding reception, in my book, is to show appreciation for everyone showing up and giving their approval and support, so it is good to be able to hand out items such as bridesmaid gifts as well as providing a nice bit of food and some great music. There is also the possibility of groomsmen gifts, and of course gifts specifically for the major participants of the wedding party.

Data Storage and Transport
Monday, March 01, 2010
Anyone remember the old floppy disks? All PC's used to have the drive for them. Good for transporting text from on PC to another. They could even store the source files for simple games. Then along came the CD burner. Hard to use, often failing to create what was intended. Same for the DVD, but at least the storage amount gets useful. But the real easy way to go these days for most times you need to store or transport data is to just use a
flash drive. They started out small, but the storage amounts are now really good.
