Oil Spills - Who Pays?
Monday, April 26, 2010
When we look at oil spills, it is more than the cost of cleaning up things that has to be paid. I saw a documentary on the Exxon Valdez tanker spill, and people there have lost more than what was caused by the spill.
For instance, if they chose to invest in a particular business, and it has failed as a result of the spill, then the loss is not just the amount that they invested, especially where the business was long established, but it is also the cost of not having the profits from the business as it grows.
It will be interesting to see how President Obama forces the oil company to pay for the latest mess in the Gulf.

Tailored Resumes for Job Hunting
Saturday, April 24, 2010
My hubby has a fair bit of experience when it comes to job hunting. He has been around long enough to be an expert! And he mentioned to me that it is important to have a resume that is tailored to the specific job that is being applied for. By having multiple resumes you can ensure a good fit to the job, but a word of caution here, be sure to rename the resume file AFTER you have sent it to the company offering the job, to make it fully identifiable as the particular one you sent!
The best way to do this might be to include the company name, as well as the date sent, in the file name that you save it as.
Another tip, whenever sending a resume electronically, be sure that the email address you send it from is appropriate, and keep the resume file name to 'resume'.

Getting Business Rolling!
Tuesday, April 13, 2010
It seems that although my clients are supposed to pay at a certain time, or rather BY a certain date each month, some fail repeatedly, and have set their own schedule on it.
In the end, this is OK, because consistency is far better than random income arriving, as at least I can pretty much run my budget allowing for the late arrivals, as I call them. So, once I get satisfied as to the consistency, I can start slowly expanding again.

Sales Leads, the easy way!
Monday, April 12, 2010
I never used to think of information as being a product, but it is a fact that if it can be sold, and more importantly bought, then it must in fact be a kind of product. If you are in the business of sales, and particularly life insurance sales, then you will be delighted to know about getting a good life insurance lead or two or three, by online purchasing.
This makes sense, as it cuts down on time trying to create leads from cold calling, or other means. Cost effective too, when you look at the commissions versus the cost of the lead.

Dieting For The Guys
Saturday, April 10, 2010
An interesting way to diet, if you are a guy, is to use a product like noxycut, which apparently does not just lose weight for you, but will maintain the weight while changing the fat to muscle, r probably more accurately, trading the fat for muscle. Now, muscle weighs more than fat, so, if a person maintains the same weight, then the mass of the muscle will be less. Result - the weight stays, the body shape changes. Still time to get rolling on it for the summer, guys, so I can watch you strut your stuff at the beach.

Rating Various Diet Pills
Thursday, April 08, 2010
When doing a comparison, for instance if you are doing research before buying a product, it is better to have the various items rated in the same manner, rather than just get written opinions. That is why some research of fast weight loss pills, for instance, might come up with both bad as well as useful results.
Different people have different needs, mine right now might be that cost is the major factor, if other things are nearly the same. And, try to check the results and do some math. That cheaper pill might end up more expensive in terms of pounds lost per dollar!

I tidied up Hubby's boat
Tuesday, April 06, 2010
Hubby's boat had a net strung around the outside edge. Because the boat is small, just 26 feet, this made for a good way to trip him up, as he has very big feet.
So, while he was at the boat today, I went with him and cut down the netting, so that it is now clearer up there on deck.
Made a nice job of improving the looks as well. Like he said, before it looked a bit like a shipwreck, with the tatty old netting hanging all over the place. It might have been different if it had been neat netting, which it might have been a few years ago, but it had gotten a bit frayed around the edges.

Clinicallix - might be as good as it gets.
Monday, April 05, 2010
When it comes to weight loss products, and of course also vitamin supplements and similar things, it is often not just what it has in it, but the quantities. The reasoning that I have for agreeing with this is that I know for sure that the body will tend to just pass through anything that is in excess of what the body requires.
In the case of the weight loss aid clinicallix, it looks like there is some sense being applied, as the ingredient quantities are adjusted to match known performance levels for that particular item.
I guess that this also might translate in the cost being as effective as possible, as this way, you are not paying for excess ingredients that doing little or nothing for you.

Scanning Documents
Sunday, April 04, 2010
I bet that if you take a look, you have a place somewhere that has piles or boxes of paper documents, from old school papers that you are keeping for sentimentality, to more recent bills that you are keeping because you might need them for some reason, such as when applying for a loan, or for if the tax people need them.
Now, obviously, there is no way around the sentimentality, but for all other stuff, there is a better way.
By using good document scanning software you can store everything on the usual PC storage equipment. The only limitation of course is to be sure to keep a backup, and make the backup stored so it can be kept in a different physical location. That way, the documents become even more secure than just keeping the original paper ones.
Added to that, you can also keep copies at one of those online storage websites, so that if you are traveling, there is no need to even take along a laptop, as the documents can be accessed from any convenient Internet Cafe.

Taking It Easy
Saturday, April 03, 2010
Summer is just about here, in fact, some days it seems to be well established here. Say what you like, things are getting generally warmer. Now, I say that, yet had to scrape frost off the van this morning. But it is still April. We used to get the occasional frost right up until the end of May, and these days, I just can't see that happening. We will see.
At least we don't have to shovel rain!
And it makes life so much easier not to have to have transport problems and have to make extra journeys because of canceling something because of snow.
So, summer itself is a form of taking it easy.

Dieting can actually save money!
Friday, April 02, 2010
When you think about it, the act of dieting can actually save you money. Most of us tend to simply eat too much in quantity of food, as well as often the wrong types of food. So, by cutting down on both the amount, and the poor types, you can reduce your spending. Now, I agree that you have to take care not to spend too much on so-called 'healthy' foods, such as imported or out of season veggies, but by paying attention, your food bill can be cut, and you will lose eight as well, of course. An assistant that you might take a look at are diet pills, and there are different types of diet pills that work in different ways.
Now, the fat-burners will not allow you to save as much, so take a close look at the appetite suppressants. That way, the food never even gets eaten!

Life Insurance - Do We Pay Too Much?
Thursday, April 01, 2010
Life insurance is a funny thing. After all, we are paying in order to die with peace of mind. So, in a way, we want to be paying it as long as we can, and I suppose that looked at that way, it is perhaps a really unusual product.
Now, most people carry at least a little life insurance, and it tends to be something that we just pay and forget. But, what can happen is that there might be changes in the way that the company does business, and so a little reviewing of things is probably in order once in a while. If you have insurance already, it doesn't harm to double check on the rates you are paying, to see if they are remaining competitive, so an easy way to do this, just for a comparison check, is to go online where there are term life insurance quotes available without a load of hassles.
