Universal Health Care
Sunday, May 30, 2010
It is interesting to watch the TV and see discussions regarding health care. There seems to be a one big point that is being missed, and that is the fact that the prices that are currently in place in the US regarding private health care, that insurance companies have to pay out for, are probably not the prices that will remain once the universal system is in place. So, the actual costs, provided no-one takes advantage, and that the system is properly regulated, will actually be lower. And that in turn means less of taxpayers money will disappear in paying for the system.
It is an expensive thing to run, but it is possible to run it.

Abs, glutes, core, and pecs - a different language?
It has often amazed me that if you are into fitness, there seems to be a different language that is spoken. We hear of these on TV advertisements, and yet I have never really figured out what they all are. I mean, how can I decide if I want a 'defined core' if I have little idea what it actually is.
But no-one seems to admit that they don't know. It might be interesting to go out into the street, and ask people at random what an abs workout is, or what are 'glutes'. No doubt, glutes are something that starts with the letter 'G', and has been abbreviated, but what that word is remains a mystery to me.

Burn Away Fat
Tuesday, May 25, 2010
Fat burners might be a better, or at least easier way to get rid of weight. Added to that, you can do exercises that will change fat into muscle. I think that there might be less health risks with this than with using appetite suppressants, maybe. Probably the best way to determine which are the best fat burners would be to go online and research it, look for comparisons, and for reviews by customers. The great thing about doing things that way, is that often, a product that is not quite top rated for effectiveness will be so much cheaper in cost, that the top grade one is just not worth buying.

Electric Cigarette? What Next? But there is a reason.....
Saturday, May 22, 2010
When I first heard of an electric cigarette I was amazed. I had this idea in my mind of a regular cigarette that has some kind of fan on it to pump the smoke into your lungs! But it is not so. I know that when hubby was quitting smoking, he had a real problem by having nothing to do with his hands. Smoking, as a habit, has the drug effect of the lowering of oxygen in the bloodstream, and it also has the same habit type as maybe biting fingernails, or things like that.
So, with quitting being so difficult, it is better to do one thing at a time, and the main thing to quit is the inhaling of the smoke. The fiddling around with hands and fingers can be dealt with easier later on.

Working Out
Thursday, May 20, 2010
I have to admit that working out has never been a strong point of mine. By the time I finish a day's work, I just want to flop out on the couch and be a potato. I am not saying that I do not want to work out, just that despite any resolve I have, it gets overruled when I get tired. I once bought a thing that would help me do a lower ab workout, but it ended up being stored in the basement, where I believe that it might still be.
I suspect that they real key to getting going on working out would be to do it first thing after waking up. But I am too busty drinking coffee for that!

Busier Weekends these days
Tuesday, May 18, 2010
I have work to do that varies in amount, depending on which day of the week it is. Up to now, Friday has perhaps been my busiest, and I have often had trouble getting it all done with the energy I have, especially at the end of the week.
But I now have a better system, I spread some work out by taking it from the Friday schedule, and putting it onto a Saturday schedule that I just created. Actually, I already had a few little Saturday or Sunday jobs, so I just added it on to them.
Working 6 days is not so good, of course, but it does allow me to be less stressed about Fridays.
What is the saying, six of one, half a dozen of the other.

Reduce Aging by Having Life Goals
Sunday, May 16, 2010
I listen to a radio show on a regular basis, and it gives advice that is just news, or general knowledge stuff, and some interesting do's and dont's. I have no idea where the guy gets his info from, but he has all this stuff, and his program is on every night during the working week.
Anyway, a good point he made, and it sounds possible, is that people who have goals in life, however small those goals might be, tend to live longer than those who don't. Sounds right, because often, once retired from a working life, some people seem to pass away very quickly after.
Of course, added to that , there are things such as hgh, the human growth hormone, that are supposed to assist in the age resisting process. And that sounds right too, as so much of how our bodies function seems related to hormones.

Side Effects of Diet Pills
Friday, May 14, 2010
Diet pills are generally pretty well tested items. The faults and possible side effects of diet pills are generally well known.
But it is good to do a double check, maybe online, just to see what you might be getting into.
Apparently the fat burner type diet pills tend to be safer, according to some reports, than the appetite suppressants.
And of course as with any diet, a good regimen of moderate exercise and good sleep habits can also go a long way to assisting you in your goals.

Sleeping problems? Try eating less, for starters.
Thursday, May 13, 2010
Most of us have those nights where we just can't get to sleep. It might be that we had a short nap, and got interrupted, and then our natural sleep cycle is upset.
It might be possible to just have a glass of wine a time before bed, or you might try finding the best sleeping pill that suits you. Bear in mind that any medication can be made more effective if you are lighter built, so go cautiously to start off.
Another good sleep inducer is some physical work, such as maybe jogging, or exercise machine use.
And I saw a long time ago an article where they recommended to avoid hard to digest foods late at night, and I think it was cheese that they said to avoid.

Hubby a couch potato?
Wednesday, May 12, 2010
I suspect that my Hubby is a couch potato.
It is difficult for me to really judge, as he is older, and older people do relax more, but it seems that whenever we are home, he is stretched on the couch watching TV, then falling asleep! Maybe I ought to deliberately go out and try to buy maybe one of those modern couches that look more uncomfortable than the traditional styles, but I suspect that they are all more comfortable than they look.
I know! I get a second couch, then I can join him.

Oil Slick Still Flowing!
Tuesday, May 11, 2010
It is now weeks since the oil well in the Gulf broke and caught fire, leaving a broken pipe spewing out crude oil in the environment. And still they have not fixed it.
There is no plan, I think, they are just engaging in panic ideas to see if something works. Amazing really that there is all that oil, but not too much has arrived onto beaches. Maybe it will do so in the next week or so, we will see. But , all in all, a really bad thing to be happening.

Corroded Faucets?
Monday, May 10, 2010
It is amazing how corrosion affects anything that has water involved with it. Take faucets. They are designed to have water near them, like so near, it runs right through them!, but at the same time, after a few years, the corrosion seems to take a hold. One good reason for this is that when you take two different metals, and add what is called an electrolyte, it acts like a kind of electric battery, and particles of one of the metals transfer to the other. Water, even domestic water, tends to have enough minerals in it, and not necessarily salt, to act as an electrolyte. And that is why it is good to be able to keep up with the latest faucet styles, particularly when looking at a Kohler kitchen faucet.

Hubby's boat seems like a money pit to me
Sunday, May 09, 2010
Now, you can look at the words 'money pit', and it can mean two things. One, of course, is like a buried treasure deal, where there is a pit loaded with money. The other is a pit into which my Hubby throws his money, and some of mine as well.
I am sure that he will see it through, and the boat will become an asset, but right now, seems like every time he goes to work on it, he finds more jobs that need doing.

Babies, Ahh, aren't they cute?
My Hubby dislike babies. He regards them as something to be avoided, as they can create extra work in his life. On the other hand, I just love babies. They represent a challenge in bringing them up, and watching them grow. I have a nephew who is just learning to talk. Funny thing is, there is no English spoken in my brothers house, but the little guy only understand English. Maybe he watches too many cartoons on TV.
He was just about a year old when he came from the Philippines, so he didn't have a baby shower dedicated to him. Now, if I get another one, nephew or niece, I will make sure that there is a shower, and ensure that the baby shower invitations get sent out in lots of time.

Saying Thanks To The Congregation
Saturday, May 08, 2010
I suppose that traditionally, the bride and groom put on the reception as a means of thanking the congregation for giving their support to the occasion. And of course that means there is a risk involved, as the reception might vary in overall success, with weather, entertainment, and general congregation mood all affecting the outcome.
That is why it is good to have a backup plan for the big thank you! You have the advantage of bulk purchasing, if you buy your wedding favors all at the same location. Weddings, after all, are big business, and big business online means healthy competition.

Discount Pricing On Dieting
Tuesday, May 04, 2010
Seems to me like most dieting pills are basically the same ingredients, but with different manufacturers charging different prices. Sure, the various individual active ingredient amounts will vary, but the end result when in use might well be about the same.
Now, once we are aware of that, we can just do some good comparison shopping, and, taking the weight loss products as being relatively equal, just go for the most discounted brand available. That is, after checking the active ingredients. After all, why pay more when you can compare online prices?

Oil Slick Craziness
Monday, May 03, 2010
Seems that the oil slick in the Gulf is causing more problems than expected. This is not just like a tanker running aground, this is an open wound in the earth, with no likelihood of the oil source running out anytime in the near future.
The lack of preparedness amazes me. I mean, did they think that this would never occur? If they did think that, their thinking is flawed, so it makes me wonder how many other flaws are there in the thinking?

Jillian Michaels - The Biggest Loser?
Sunday, May 02, 2010
Jillian Michaels, of TV's program 'The Biggest Loser' is apparently being sued by someone who didn't get the expected results from and endorsed diet product. Doesn't she know that the people who endorse products generally do so for money. Although, there are also many who, money or not, will only endorse those products that they are happy to use. But apart from that piece of news, the best way to select a diet pill might not be by taking the advice of a TV personality, but to do online research of your own, and try out what the reviews say is the best, and if that fails, keep an open mind, and try the next one down on the popularity list.

The Best Acne Treatment Can Vary
Saturday, May 01, 2010
Acne is one of those afflictions that is selective in who it attacks, and is also, I believe, selective in which attempted cure will be successful. Now, you may see products advertised as being the best acne treatment, but in reality, I am sure that I have it correct when I say that different cures can work with different success rates with different people. So, you have to, as the first step, keep an open mind. Next, buy a little of a particular product, and see how it goes. If it is completely satisfactory, then I guess that you have hit the nail on the head, and so it might be a good idea to rush out and buy some lottery tickets!
