Tv and Internet - worlds collide!
Saturday, August 28, 2010
Seems like the whole technology of things like TV and Internet, as well as phones, texting etc, is mingling and mixing.
It is only a few years now since we had computers that are fast enough to handle constantly moving pictures, such as a TV program. Yet here we are where there is now the Slingbox, which allows you to watch HD TV for free using your modem as a supply point for the signal.
I guess that the next step will be 42 inch flat screen monitors becoming the most popular size.

Can Boots Be Comfortable?
Monday, August 23, 2010
I guess the word 'boots' conjures up mental images of hard leather footwear, that can never fit properly, and will chafe the skin within a few minutes of putting them on. But it isn't actually true, as we have ugg boots as a notable exception to the rule. I have a hunch that what makes UGGS comfortable is the fact that they are nearly like being barefoot, and the foot muscles and bones can work in a more natural manner. But whatever the reason, if you ever have a chance to try some on, go for it, you will be delighted.

Business gets better!
Tuesday, August 10, 2010
It is a funny time for me. I have been building up my business for over 2 yrs now, and finally seem to be getting able to relax a bit as far as the finances go.
I just spent maybe everything I had available in doing a catch up.
I can now pay bills as they come in, and not have to juggle them, unless I make a mistake!
Hubby is now trying to get me to start a retirement fund, but I prefer to wait a few months first. Maybe I will win the lottery this week!

Outer Banks - Great Place To Be
Monday, August 09, 2010
Right now, I live looking over a harbor, and it sure is a great time of the year for that. But summer is not always here, soon things will cool down, and anyone with the means will be moving south for the winter.
The compromise on that is to seek a place where the weather is more even, not icy in winter, but fresh and cool, but very nice to be out and about in, as well as not humid and tropical in summer.
I think that Outer Banks homes might have the location I need. Far enough away from the stifling heat of places further south, yet far enough south to remain relatively warm all the year around.

Hubby's boat engine
Tuesday, August 03, 2010
Hubby is not satisfied with just one engine, he has to have one as a source of spare parts, too.
I bought him one, and now he also is buying an outboard engine as well, just in case.
He really seems to be doing all the preparation of his boat quite well.
But I will still feel nervous with him driving it - there are rocks out there!

School Furniture - for training rooms too!
Monday, August 02, 2010
When we think of school furniture, there is a tendency to think of smaller sized items, that would probably be purchased by school boards and the like.
But it is a fact these days that many businesses depend upon a regular training program, as part of a service level maintaining plan. With jobs that are boring, or maybe stressful, the employee turnover can make training rooms an essential part of doing business. And part of setting the mood for an educational experience rather than a working experience, is the decor of the room, and the school furniture that has been bought to outfit the room.
It becomes part of presenting a professional appearance to clients or potential clients.

Barcode Scanners, the Ledgers of this century!
Sunday, August 01, 2010
Barcodes and bar code scanners have been around quite a while now. Like most new technology, when they first came out, the prices were way too high for most small businesses, so it was left to the big guys to use them and make the technology cheaper. The advantage of a barcode scanner is not just speed. It is coupled with a computer database of all the products, allowing for greater stock control, something that used to be done by keeping a book called a ledger.
By having a minimum re-ordering quantity, as well as a maximum stock quantity, a small business can take advantage of this technology, so that there is no more poring through ledgers, adding up how many of this or that have been sold.
