Laminates for Floors
Wednesday, May 25, 2011
When I first saw laminate flooring, I was not too impressed.
After all, at first glance it looked a bit like phony wood.
In reality though, laminate flooring is a great high tech option for flooring that combines the features of wood, together with a surface that resists stains, particularly those nasty ones that occur when liquid gets between wood blocks, kind of into the seams, and creates a stain under the edges off the varnished part.
Just one tip - try to avoid darker colors, as they tend to show up the dust and dirt more easily.

Time to dust off the lawnmower!
Saturday, May 21, 2011
Yes, here it is, the summer that we have all been waiting for. And now it is time to get cracking on the things we tend to forget about when we are in the middle of winter, like mowing the grass.
I have a little electric mower, easy to use, and light as well. And there is always the little cheap electric weedwhacker thing that I can plug in, as well.
So, no excuses. If I want the place looking nice, I had better get that lawnmower out and get to it, as, apart from Hubby, seems like no-one else will do it for me!

I used to not bother with multivitamins.
Tuesday, May 17, 2011
I used to not bother with multivitamin, or vitamins of any kind for that matter. My thinking at the time was simple, that the body will sort out and retain what it needs to retain, and reject and expel whatever it does not need.
Well, that is OK while we are young, but as we get older, things might get a little out of balance. Now, some adjustment could be made by changing diet, but why would I want to eat things that I prefer not to? Seems that I can have my cake, and eat it too!

Try to catch up.
Sunday, May 15, 2011
Seems that I am always getting behind with things.
I see something that needs doing, but do not have the time right then.
Or, there are significant dates such as birthdays that have to be catered for in my timetable.
And they push back the other stuff even further into the future.
But I think that this might be the case for most people, and it is not always about the amount of things that we intend to do, I suspect that if I had less work, I would still be behind with thengs by the same amount!

Casual, but with style
Wednesday, May 11, 2011
The hip-hop clothing trend has spawned some interesting brands, such as parish clothing.
There is no doubt at all that when you buy really cheap basic clothing, it looks like it is cheap. Something about the cloth maybe, or just the cut or actual design makes it look better.
This has been the case for years, as far as, for instance, women's fashion clothing goes - just take a look at a person wearing a cheap blouse, compared to one costing maybe $300 , and you will see the difference. It is subtle sometimes, but it is there.
The same with men's clothing. Just that little extra can change it from being ordinary, to looking really sharp.

Barcodes
Sunday, May 08, 2011
One of the most significant advances as far as computing goes, is the ability to transfer information.
When scanners first came out, it made it possible to take a picture that was on paper, and save it as a computer file.
That in turn meant that it could be modified by picture processing software, that can change the colors, the contrast, remove red eyes caused by a flash camera, and so on.
Likewise, the barcode scanner is now able to read the 'label' of goods, to record their presence. Then, again in turn, as the goods move off the shelves, the computing system can detect this, and create re-ordering situations. Makes life easy.

Bone Health
Saturday, May 07, 2011
Calcium is weird stuff. Like chalk, but it behaves in weird ways. Like, if you put bones in seawater, and at a depth where there is little calcium, the bones will disappear. But if there is calcium in the water, then the bones will last longer.
As we age, the body tends to produce less calcium, or maybe just not collect it from the food that we eat. Then we are best taking calcium supplements as an augmentation to the calcium that we do have. Stops those bones wasting away in our old age.

No Drought Here!
Friday, May 06, 2011
We keep getting rainfall warnings from the government. The ground is now fully soaked, and cannot absorb extra rain, yet it keeps on raining. And the forecast keeps getting updated to set back the day that is sunny, so that it is always about 4 days away!
Now, I am willing to bet that following this, we will have a major sunny dry spell.
That will be OK, just in time to enjoy summer.

Saving On Laptops
Wednesday, May 04, 2011
One computer type that has come down in price over the last few years, is laptops.
I have to admit to being a little confused, are they laptops, or notebooks, or what?
But the great thing about them, of course is the portability.
I personally prefer to plug in a regular keyboard and mouse though.
I have found that the only problem is actually a non-problem for me, and that is that the battery on them tends to fail before the computer does. In my case, I just use it plugged in to the power. Right now, online, they have clearance laptops for sale at really good prices.

Osama is gone
Monday, May 02, 2011
Seems that the USA has finally dealt with Osama Bin Laden, the guy behind the 9/11 attacks.
There will probably be more people happy with that than are sad.
One wonders if this will put a stop to the madness.
Unfortunately, probably not.
It seems that there are always those around who will try to achieve change via violent means, and this has been true throughout history.
It is probably a fact that this will continue forever.
On the good side though, when it is the 'good guys' wanting the change, then it works that way around too.

Colon Cleansing
As with most medication related products, a good way to select the one that is specifically best for yourself is to try each one that you are aware of.
And, in turn, a good way to get started on this would be to go to where there are colonix reviews, and reviews of other similar products, so that you save time in your personal testing, as well as having a lower cost to the selection process.
Basically, let others do the initial selection for you.

Saving Hot Tub Energy
Sunday, May 01, 2011
Those of us who have hot tubs will know the cost of running something that involves the heating of water.
Water holds heat better than air does, and in turn, it will take longer to heat water than it does to heat air.
So, that hot water in your hot tub is worth money!
The key to making savings is to hang on the the expensive part of that water, which is the heat.
By adding a decent insulated hot tub cover, you can slash the costs of running the tub.
