Seems that we escaped from a major hurricane hit the other day.
What was the name, Irene, I think it was named.
Anyway, living up in colder waters helps, and so does the tracking, when the hurricane goes onto land, and this prevents it sucking up the heat from the sea.
So, we didn't even get a lot of rain. Lots of wind though. And humidity like breathing under water.
And now, there is the next one forming in the Atlantic.
So, must get hubby to mow the lawn before he has the excuse that the grass is too wet.

I managed to lose a little weight over the summer, just by being really careful with the amounts that I eat. It is a hard struggle, as it seems that all the good tasting foods are also those that add weight. My age now, too, is going against me a little. Or starting to maybe. I think that when I go on my regular spring diet, trying to get set up for the bathing suit body for summer, I might try looking up online to find the best weight loss pills I can, and see if they help. I might be a fashion model yet!

I have to decide, at some point soon, how much I want to spend on the renovations that I intend to do.
The house is in an area where the wells have a high acid content. At least, it seems that way. There are local houses that have had to replace all the copper piping, together with the faucets.
My own faucets, I have to admit, were not top quality. I think that we have replaced them maybe 3 times in the 13 years or so that we have owned the house.
The sinks too, need replacing, so, at least as far as the kitchen goes, I was looking at double bowl undermount sinks as a good option, as I want to get a marble countertop, as well. By the time I am done, the water quality will no longer be a concern.

I have been browsing the advertising media to look at vehicles. I kind of prefer the height of a van or SUV, and if it has 4 wheel drive, then that can be a boon in winter, but in looking, I have noticed that especially in the smaller to medium car sizes, there seems to be fantastic economy figures quoted.
Now, bear in mind that the official figures tend to be more economical than a normal driver would get, but at the same time, model to model, make to make, the economy of vehicles is getting far better, and doing so far faster than in past years.
Might be worth leaving off buying a new vehicle for another year or so, although on second thoughts, that is a lot of gas that can be saved, starting from now!

Some afflictions or diseases have names that are relatively benign. You hear it, and it is just a matter-of-fact piece of information.
But others, such as rickets, or mange, conjure up mental pictures of something really distasteful to look at.
These impressions are in some cases justified. Take mange, for example. It is caused by mites, and can be, in some forms, very contagious in nature, as the mites can jump from one host pet to another, thus spreading the disease.
The trick in controlling mange is to obtain a good mange treatment, and back that up by controlling contact with other animals. Sounds simple, but can be pesky, but for sure is worthwhile.

It would be nice to have a great selection of jewelry, so that whatever the neckline, the height of the pendant or similar motif can be selected to match the neck opening of the clothing worn.
Added to that, we all have our favorites, and it is good to know that there is a way to adjust the height at the front, or the back for that matter, of a necklace. It is simple and effective, by just using a low cost necklace extender, the jewelry can fit the neckline perfectly. And without needing a safe full of different jewelry items, too!

It always amazes me how the stock markets vary.
They finds any excuse to move up or down, because if they stay still, then the only way that money can be made is by hanging onto the shares, and wait for the company that the shares are invested in, to do better.
But, with share prices going up and down, money can be made without creating or providing anything useful whatsoever.

There are times when a subtle approach is needed, and others when a 'get in your face' approach is appropriate.
Take, for instance, if you are looking for a custom picture frame that suits the decor of the room or office in which the frame, and of course the picture, will be displayed.
Some modern frames are the classic look, just a border to accent the picture that is on display. But other situations, such as a business, or a clubhouse environment, might deem it preferable to have something that is more aggressive in looks.
So, if you have pictures that are currently in frames that are old and boring, just take into mind your decor, and you can use the same picture, but alter the whole mood of it to suit that surrounding decor.

One of the things that has occurred because of the internet is that the level of communication has both increased, and is lower cost.
It is now possible to yak on the phone for hours at very little cost. And, unlike the old days when every phone call went through phone lines, the ability and cost of conferencing several phone users into the same conversation has gotten easier.
It is no longer a big deal, you just use
conference call services that are available, and it is as easy as surfing the internet.
The actual cost is a negative figure, when you add in the savings on the transportation that used to be required in order to have a conference.
