Drying Boots and Gloves
Sunday, November 27, 2011
I have often seen people put their footwear and gloves beside a vent, or in front of a fire, in order to dry them.
The problem is, of course, that it is the insides that are wet or damp, and so that is where boot dryers come into play.
The idea is quite simple, and even just piping unheated air into boots will dry them out, given time.
But for a real treat, use a proper boot dryer, and use a bit of heat as well. Makes a nice treat to add a bit of comfort.

Toner versus Ink
Friday, November 25, 2011
The running cost for printing using a computer is much lower if you have the type of printer that uses toner cartridges instead of ink cartridges.
But there is a difference in the cost of setting this up, as ink type printers are almost given away when you buy them, the other type are more expensive.
So, it is best to know, or guess, ahead of time, before making your purchase, as to how many copies you are expecting to make.

Snow gets Better!
Wednesday, November 16, 2011
Snow actually gets better for driving on once the weather gets a lot colder, and the roads surfaces are below freezing. Now, provided that the snow is not mixed with rain, then the snow will just lay kind of loose upon the cold road, and as vehicles pass over it, it will tend to move away like dust.
Not so good for making snowballs though.
But right now, as winter gets under way, the snow forms a wet mess with slush at the bottom, and snow on the top. And the best kind of driving in those conditions is no driving at all.

RV Insurance
Sunday, November 13, 2011
RV insurance is something of a specialty item.
Now, you can choose to use conventional insurance to insure your RV, or you can choose something that saves a bit of money.
It is possible that they have figured out that most RV's are not always being used on the road, but spend a fair bit of their time parked. Obviously, the risks will be lower when the vehicle is not on the public roads, and so the rv insurance will be able to have a lower premium.
But, whatever the reason, provided that the insurance is valid, then it is great to be able to save some cash, that's for sure.

Rainy Parade
Friday, November 11, 2011
It is Rememberance Day today, and it is pouring with rain, there has been a heavy rainfall warning issued by the Weather Office, and the wind is blowing hard enough to push a person over onto the ground.
I suppose that it is a feature of the weather these days, that we get a good mixture. Only yesterday it was warm enough to walk around without a jacket.

Christmas Gifts
Sunday, November 06, 2011
It is easier for us gals to buy gifts, after all, most of us were made to shop! But for guys it is harder. They just don't listen, or understand, most of the time.
So, here's a secret tip for you. Get your guy to take a look at websites where there are christmas gifts for women in particular. Try to be looking over his shoulder, so that you can pass 'casual' comments on the various items, to be sure that you get what you want on Christmas morning.

First Frost
Wednesday, November 02, 2011
We have had the first proper frost the other night.
By proper, I mean a frost that was not just a little icing on the car windows, but a nice thick layer that needed scraping off before driving was possible.
Makes me glad that the van has a great heater. And sad that Hubby's car has a broken heater. He will have to get that fixed very soon now.

Hospitality Industry Is Hiring
Tuesday, November 01, 2011
It is funny how the news programs on TV can give a wrong impression about how things are going.
There are job shortages, sure, we all know that, but then, there are also lots of job vacancies. Take for instance Valet Jobs, and other hospitality industry jobs. Sure, the starting pay can be on the low side, but then, add a bit of tenure, and the pay rates increase.
And it can be an interesting career, meeting people, and helping them.
